Question about Phones

1 Answer

I have an electra elite 48 phone system. I have to increase the ring time when the phone is in night mode. I believe that I found the two areas that need to be modified to make this change happen. 3-61 and 3-64. It seems that 3-64(delay ring enable night mode) needs to be enabled. I can get to the program location, but do not know how to make changes to the setting. Then it seems that 3-61(night delay ring time) needs to be chaned to allow the handsets to ring more than once. Can anyone tell me if i am correct. If not, can someone tell me what needs to be changed and how to change it. The repair people around here are hard to come by and they charge you $200 to push 10 buttons and leave. Please help!!!

There is a menu to change ring type.

I will look into the phone documentation and let you know.

Hi, as far as I know you cannot manually program features as the ring duration in night mode, you can only program the night mode to teh pre-installed formats provided by built in software.

To program and personalize single night modes preset you need a complete IPK system with customised software and computer, otherwise can only use built in presets.

You can also turn on night mode from a different phone.

To turn on Night Service Mode from same phone Press Night Service key.
To activate Night service from a different phone do the following,
    just dial:

    1. [8][1][8] + Night Service Password
The default Night Service Password is "0000".

    2. Dial the Night Service Mode
    0 Day mode
    1 Night mode
    2 Midnight mode
    3 Rest mode
    4 Day 2 mode
    5 Night 2 mode
    6 Midnight 2 mode
    7 Rest 2 mode
to turn on Night Service Night Mode dial:
    [8][1][8] + [0][0][0][0] + [1]

    Manual here.

    FaQ here.

One of my phones stopped ringing on my nec dtu 16d phone

Ringing is assigned in system programming, very little chance it was changed by mistake. If Do-Not-Disturb was turned on, that could make a phone stop ringing. If it's just one line on a phone, maybe the system got put in night mode by mistake and night programming isn't identical to day ring. If you have direct access to the phone line check it for dial tone. Often virtual lines are used and you can't check for direct dial tone. On very rare occasion the ringer stops working, which can't be fixed.

How do i turn off the Night Mode

From one of the 2 main reception phones, press Feature 80 Feature , on a ProII, an Elite, and an IPK. For the other systems that use this phone you're best off finding the phone that has a night button assigned.

How do change the outgoing "Night Mode" message in the Voice Mail System on NEC Electra Elite DTU 32D-1?

If you are using an Active Voice product (typical w/ NEC) you need to change the hours of operation on the voice mail system. "Night Mode" only changes the ringing characteristics of the phone system and where calls ring, not the greetings that play on the voice mail. The voice mail plays a particular greeting (Day/Night/Holiday) based on the time of day specified in the schedule. The system administrator for the voice mail would have to make this change.

HOW CAN I ANSWER THE PHONE WITHOUT PRESSING ANY BUTTON?

It has to do with a program called ringing line preference. Program # 4-11. Check out www.wedophones.com/Manuals/NEC/Electra%20Elite%20IPK%20Programming%20Manual%20-%20Document%20R%204.pdf

If you happen to have an Electra Elite 48, 192 or IPK this manual can show you how to program that feature. Don't take it lightly though, you can jeopardize your system if you do not know what you are doing.

Additional User Stations not Ringing

You would need to determine which NEC phone system you have and obtain a programming manual for the phone system. Your phone could be used on different NEC phone systems that program differently. Phones only have user guides that explain how to use the features.

You can set up your system with Night Ring and have different ringing rules when the system is put in night ring mode. It sounds like this is what you are looking for.

Guillermo, to make an additional phone ring you must enter system programming. This is somewhat complicated, but I would be happy to step you through the programming over the phone. You may call me @ 850.326.0394 Phone Guy
