Put your mouse cursor in the middle of the photo. Now move it around. Any bigger than that, and you need a microscope.

Bottom RIGHT corner. See where it states JFP1? From it go UP the motherboard. There is a mounting hole, then the Front Panel header.

JFP1

It has Black, and Red, and Yellow, and Green, and Blue in it, below it's contact pins.

MicroStar International Support > MSI K8MM-V motherboard > Support Main page,

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K8MM-V.html

Hover your mouse on Download.
(Overview / Specification / Download / Support / etc)

In the drop down list click on - Manual

Under the Download subheading click on the blue - M7142v1.0.zip

Click on either Download 1, Download 2, or Download 3.
(Or click on the country name nearest yours. I have never seen Download 1, 2, and 3 before)

A small window will come up on the right -
Opening M7142v1.0.zip

Make SURE there is a Green dot, in the small circle to the left of Save File.
If there isn't; left-click in the empty circle to the left of Save File.
Now go to the bottom of the small window, and click on OK.

A small window will come up on the left.
Allow the file to fully download, then DOUBLE-click right on the file name.

Another small window will come up.
Go to the far left of this window, and click on - Extract all files

At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on Next, Next, and Finish.

Now DOUBLE-click on the file name - M7142v1.0,
next to the red Adobe PDF icon.

There is your motherboard manual.

The PDF file page, and the actual manual's page, are not the same number of page.
Go to Page 5 - Adobe Reader page number, or Page 1 - Actual manual page number.

Be sure to note JFP1 and JFP2.
(Junction Front Panel 1 and Junction Front Panel 2)

The front of your computer is the Front Panel.
The area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the main wires from the Front Panel go to, is the Front Panel header.

The Front Panel header is JFP1.
JFP2 is an auxiliary front panel header. Explanation follows.

JFP1 is two columns of pins.
5 on the Left side; 4 on the Right side.

Pins on the Left side are numbered ODD.
Pins on the Right side are numbered EVEN.

Starting at the Top, coming down on the Left side;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

Starting at the Top, coming down on the Right side;
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8.
There is NO pin 10.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED. (Light. Usually Red)
Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the HDD LED is dim when the harddrive is active, switch the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for a Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used.

C) Pin 9 is N/C.
Not connected.
Probably 5 Volts used by the factory for testing the motherboard.

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power ON LED. (Light)
Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the PWR LED is dim when the computer is on, switch the wires around.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

F) There is NO pin 10.

JFP2 is to the Left of JFP1.
Two rows of pins.
3 pins on the Top row; 4 pins on the Bottom row.

The 4 pins on the Bottom row are for a speaker.
For an internal speaker so you can hear BIOS Beep Codes.

Pin 2 is all the way to the Right; Pin 8 all the way to the Left.
(2, 4, 6, and 8)
Believe Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire. Pin 8 the Negative ( - ) wire.

The 3 pins on top are for a Power On LED light, that has 3 wires.
A dual color LED. (Yellow/Green? Normal/Turbo)

Sorry, I can't find a color diagram. But check page 2 of the HP support manual, this shows all the jumpers and board connectors. You can download the manual from the link below:

My K8MM-V motherboard is not recognising any SATA hard drives.

Plz check your motherboard is support new generation SATA speed. May be the MSI K8MM-V 'll not support 3gbps speed drives. So you need to change the HDD speed to 1.5Gbps by changing the jumper setting of HDD (plz refer HDD manual)
