Question about Dell Inspiron 1200 Notebook

1 Answer

My laptop was reeling through a booting and auto shutdown cycle and as a measure to sort out this problem, I took help of microsoft virus cleaning on line. The stystem went well till I rebooted after usual shutdown. There after, system opens but my desktop icons and task bar are lost. Right click prompts that the task bar is disabled by administrator, same happens even in safemode in spite of keeping the system on for hours. Diagnostic tests reveal that every thing is normal. I am unable to change boot sequence or unlock security settings since I donot have Password. The system was bought with preloaded windows xp-sp2 and no back up disk was received. Is the manufacturer pushind the customers to wall for commercial reasons? What could be a proven solution? parasuram

Vista will not boot

Shutdown and then take your hard drive out, connect it to another PC with a USB adapter/cable, and use that other PC's anti-virus (e.g., McAffee) and anti-malware (e.g., malwarebyte) to scan and clean your hardrive. Make sure your hard drive does not overheat during the scan/cleaning process. After cleaning, re-insert hard drive in your laptop and boot.

Using F2 at start up, I can't access BIOS on Gateway NE56R31u. Laptop powers on, CPU fan runs and HDD spins. No splash screen running Windows 8.0. Does motherboard Q5WVH LA-7912P Rev. 1.0 have solder

Based upon what you describe, it sounds like you have a boot zero (sector) virus on your hard drive.

Disable auto shutdown

Restart the Computer and keep tapping the F8 key till you see the advance boot options, You should be tapping the key as soon as you see the manufactures screen. Once you get the advance boot options -> Select the option which says Disable Automatic Startup on System Failure.

Why do my laptop cannot be turn on. It automatically shutdown by itself even if in full battery?

Reasons might be:
First, there is a problem on your Operating System/
Situation: If its auto shutdown upon booting or upon loading windows/
**solution:Repair/Reformat the OS used/
Second, there might be a problem in you Memory Card/
**solution: Try to clean your Memory Card using an Eraser/
Third, make sure that you placed your laptop on a clean and cool area/let the air on the fan flow/most probably your CPU fan might be affected for that and leads you to auto shutdown/
**solution: clean the cooling fan,

I have a virus on my computer and it wont let me go online. how do i sort this?

First. disconnect from the internet, take out the network cable.
Boot into safe mode.(usually F8 on boot up)
Switch off system restore(at least for now)
run your antivirus on a full scan.(if you dont have any... use AVG Free or Microsoft Security suite free)
Run a good malware scanner like Malwarebytes.
You may need to have access to the internet to download these programs.
If this helps then you can turn system restore back on if you wish(start/programs/accessories/system tools)
