Extendeba501c will not communicate with telstra router

You need to read the manual. There are four different types of 7438RPN extenders.
The device needs to be located within the range of the Telstra wireless router, you do not say which router has been provided, so I cannot comment on the set-up of the Telstra router.
This is the Air version of the manual.

EdiMax Br-6482nS doesnt give internet

A router is only used to connect devices together in a LAN (local area network). In order to get out to the internet you also will need a modem (cable or dsl depending on your service) You will also need to pay for service through an ISP (Internet Service Provider)

Sometimes one of my computers *always same one) doesn't recognize the mouse and keyboard.

This is a common problem with KVM switches. To isolate the problem, here's what you need to do:

1. First, connect the keyboard and mouse directly to the problem computer to ensure that the keyboard and mouse works correctly while being directly connected.

2. Swap the connection of two computers. If you're having a problem on the computer that is connected to port 1 of the KVM, connect that computer to port 2 of the switch or just swap the connection. If the problem recur on port 1, then there's a problem with the keyboard and mouse cable on port 1.

3. But if you're not able to duplicate the problem on port 1 or 2, disconnect the KVM switch from the computers, leave it disconnected for 5 minutes.

4. After 5 minutes, reconnect the KVM to the computers and reboot the computers.

5. If same problem occur, then contact the manufacturer of the KVM and have them RMA the device.

Thank you!

I need ot reset my edimax ew-7206APg but the reset button doesn't

According to the manual (which you can find by doing a search in google for Edimax), the default IP address for the device is
Default IP Address: 192.168.2.1
You can open an internet browser window on the computer that is connected to the WIRED port on the router.
In the browser window, type

http://192.168.2.1 <return>
You should be able to see the screen that is generated from the Edimax and take it from there.

Reset the password to default on an edimax ek16ro Need to reset the password on the KVM,

According to the user manual, the device needs to be sent in. The user manual can be found at:

http://www.edimax.com/images/Image/manual/KVM/EK-08-16RO/EK-08_16RO_M.pdf

  • Note: If you are not familiar with the operation of OSD menu, please don’t change the password – i.e. keep default eight zero (00000000) value.
  • Otherwise, if you have set the password and unfortunately forget the password, you need send it back to your distributor for resetting the password.

PPPoE over Edimax BR-6104K without a modem

I am not sure if I understand you well.

You say:
My Internet is a PPPoE broadband connection but I don't have a modem installed.

What do you mean ?
You have a Broadband/ADSL modem, but you didn't install any software for it ?
(It is probably not necessary.)

So, I assume you do have a modem. You connect your modem to the wall outlet with a telephone cable.
Then then modem is connected with LAN cable to one of your PC with two NICs, you make Internet Connection Sharing, and ten from the second NIC of that PC, you connect (again) with LAN cable, your second PC.

If it is an ADSL or Cable modem connected with LAN cable, please follow this steps.

First RESET your Edimax router and disconnect all LAN cables if connected.

Connect your PC (the one with one NIC) to one of the 4 LAN ports of your Router wit a LAN cable.

Open My Network Places and then View network connections, or go to Control Panel and open Network Connections.

Right-Click on your LAN adapter and choose Properties, then double-click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

Set to 'Obtain IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server addres automatically' (click OK). Now you are back to the previous window. Click and check (if it is not) 'Show icon notification when connected' and once again click OK.

After a fiew seconds you should get (near to the clock in the the right bottom of your desktop), a Network icon and a baloon message that your NIC is connected.

Right-click on the network icon and click STATUS, a window will open
and then click on SUPPORT tab.
You should see:
IP Addres: 192.168.2.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1

Open your browser and type http://192.168.2.1

Now login as:
admin (default)
and password is: 1234 (default)

Click on GENERAL SETUP on Top-Left, and then on WAN (on the right side) and choose
PPPoE.
Click on 'More configuration'
Type your User Name and Password you have from your ISP.

Now Click on APLY, and again APLY !

The Router will restart in 30 Sec, and your NIC will reconnect.

Now connect your Modem to a WAN port of your Router with LAN cable. (***)

Now:
if you've typed your User Name and Password correctly in PPPoE fields,
and
if everything is OK with the service from your provider,

you should now be on Internet.

If not, then please check your User Name and Password with your Internet Service Provider, and ask them if they can see your router.

Now, get to the PC with two NICs.

Go to Control Pannel, and go to Network Connections.
Right-click on one of your NICs and click 'Disable'.
Check the other NIC if 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' settings are set to Obtain IP addres and DNS - Automatically, and 'Show icon notification when connected' and once again click OK.

Connect the (enabled) NIC with LAN cable to another port of your router.

The second PC should be on Internet, too.

If you (somehow) realy don't have a modem, but you have a cable only, follow the above instructions to the point (***) and connect the cable to the WAN port of your router.

That's it!

Regards

PPPoE over Edimax BR-6104K without a modem

HI,
Actually in short  "you NEED A MODEM;"
In order to connect your router you need to connect a modem in "bridge mode'( bridge mode is nothing but a configuration on the modem)..

cd8a28a.jpg
this is a picture of  rear side of a  router,,, you have to connect the modem into the wan port of the router (above),, and in port number 1,2,3,4 you can connect your computers,

Want to update keyboard, Logitech & Microsoft say can,t use KVM. At present I use a Logitech Internet Pro keyboard (old) and a Logitech Trackman Wheel mouse M/N: T-BB18 and an HP w2207h Screen connected to 2 pc's with a 2-Port EDIMAX KVM switch M/N: EK-PA2C. Because the Trackman wheel is a USB connection I utilise an adaptor socket to connect to the KVM switch. With the above connections I would like to use a NON-wireless keyboard . I did try a MICROSOFT ergonomic keyboard , but for some reason it did not appear to work with the KVM switch (ie it was only usable on the 1 pc). A contact with MICROSOFT said that because it was a USB Kybd it would not work with my traditionally connected KVM switch and I would not be able to find a suitable keyboard. I returned the keyboard because of this and am still using this one here, disappointedly. The keyboard would be mostly used for media usage (media player link & pause/stop - mute - volume etc) as well as various hotkeys for www/E-mail certain software start up's etc. The above was a correspondence with "Logitech". There reply linked me to this: http://logitech-en-emea.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitech_en_emea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=305&p_created=1085519332 and explained that Logitech Keyboards (all of them) will NOT work with a KVM switch. As you can see by my typing this, the present (old) keyboard is working perfectly alright with the KVM switch. The present keyboard is showing signs of it's age and does need replacing. A brief search for suitable keyboards bought me to both the Microsoft & Logitech ergonomic type keyboards (multiple hot keys , etc). But until I can solve this problem with the use of a KVM switch ( I do not want 2 keyboards at this desk, it is pointless having the KVM switch if I was to do that). The OS software on both pc's is Windows XP Pro@SP3. fingers crossed you have a solution to this issue. youres Geoff
