Question about ATI RADEON 9200 SE (128 MB) AGP Graphic Card

Upgrade winXP, now ATI card not recognised and drivers wont insta

Upgraded dodgy copy of windows to genuine XP home, now ATI Radeon 9200 video card not recognised on the system (not seen in Device Manager), drivers will not install - tells me to try installing standard VGA driver on the adapter first. removed the card and started the machine, replaced the card to see if it would be detected, however no change. Any help greatly appreciated.

Windows is updated SP3, .NET 2.0 - Video card is not seen by the system. Latest drivers from ATI site will not install. Old drivers will not install, it gives me this message in a pop up box

"Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display with a standard VGA driver before running setup"

  • mojozen Mar 07, 2009

Doh. I fixed it, thanx for your input. I thought my chipset drivers would stay installed because I was only upgrading Windows, however when I tried reinstalling them Hey Presto, problem solved. Sorry to waste everyones time

Hello,

I am presuming you have XP on your computer.

According to ATI, this graphics board should work fine in a spare PCI slot.

Install in the top PCI slot as your CMOS detects top to bottom.
XP should detect the ATI board and will ask for drivers.
Install your CD drivers and or software as needed.

If you have VIsta or Windows 7, it does not appear ATI supports them for drivers.

Good Luck

Unable to play the PC game Crysis

AlanChong20, update you're video casr software. The radeon 9200 last update is listed at this link.
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeon-prer300-xp.html
The date for the upgrade is Nov. 15, 2006 No more driver update are being made.
If you're game still gives you the same error try lowering the game graphics detail settings. If set to high, bring them down to medium. It very possible you're card does not have enough memory to play the game. The 9200 is a older card. It may be time to upgrade.
