Press the number lock key once, if you press it again it will turn the numbers again. It is usually one of the keys above the Function keys (ie F1 to F12 keys).

Alphabet keys displaying numeric

This happens when you have the Num Lk (Number Lock) key on and you have Pressed the FN Function key at the lower left hand portion of the keyboard. When this happens if you press the keys such as UIOJKLM you will key the numbers 4561230.

Turn your Num Lk off by pressing that key at the top of the keyboard.

Keyboard malfunction. i have to use the on screen-keyboard. here is the same text from the actual keyboard. 2eyb6ard 0a3f4nct56n. 5 have t6 4se the 6n screen 2eyb6ard.

It looks as if your function (fn) key has jammed. I would carefully pull up on the key to try and get it to unstick. If you can't do it with your fingers, do it carefully with a small screwdriver.

Some keyboards have a feature called "Number Lock" It is mostly found on laptops. But turn it off to regain your default keyboard. On most keyboards it is located near the screen shot, print screen buttons. Push your shift key and the NumLk/ScrnLk button, and your keyboard should return to default.

Hope this helps...... :)

I have a gateway mx6453.every since i gooked up my wireless gear via usb, the keypad on the laptop has the numbers on the letters UIOJKLM stuck into number ock even when I unplug the wire less. what...

this may sound weird to you but turn off the laptop, remove the bezel, screws and the keyboard. start the computer until you get a keyboard error. enter the bios and restart with f10 and enter. when it restarts, shut off the laptop again. reinstall the keyboard. restart the computer and try to use the locked keys. i doubt the usb wireless caused this. if the keys are still stuck, then the keybaord is faulty. spill liquid on it?
