Laptop wont turn on this a weird one!!! Please help!

Ok i need help with this asap as it is my parents laptop that i have knackered. Basically the other day i plugged and external hard drive into its usb port. The hard drive is a basic hard drive just in an enclosure, however on the second part of the power cable (as its in two pices, like a box which plugs into hard drive and then a kettle lead same thype which use on monitors, desktops etc. This plugs into the box and plug on wall) i plugged in the wrong lead so the voltage wasnt correct. When i plugged it into the usb the screen started to flicker and get a bit staticy then the blu screen came up the dumping memory one which usually occurs when theres a hardware failure etc. nyways i turned the pc off then back on. It all booted up fine and everythign so i agin plugged the hard drive into the usb but this time with the original lead with the correct voltage. However this time it made my pc completely freeze and couldnt do anything, move, get task manager up not even turn it off on the power button! So i turned it off forcefully by taking out the battery and ac lead. So when i did this i tried turning it back on but it wouldnt come on at all!!! However when i had the ac lead in and the battery the battery light comes on as if it is charging and at first so did the crescent moon as if it is in hibernation. However the lights keep changing! so now the moon light doesnt stay on and the battery light only comes on for about 30 seconds then turns off. But if i unplug the ac lead the battery light goes off but if i pres th power button the moon comes on for a couple of secs then goes of?! The laptop is a Hi Grade C5514 and i have tried taking out the battery and lead for about 8 hour and putting them back in but still no luck. I also got half way disassembling it incase it was the cmos battery and wanted to see if could reset it or something by taking it out or replcaing it but couldnt find it anywhere!!! I need help with this asap as my parents havent yet realised its my fault but i can only feed them technical jibberish for too long! (there like cavemen with technology lol) Any help with this asap will be soooooo appreciated!!! Cheers!

Basically, you should NEVER power off a laptop by unplugging both the ac cord and the battery. Strange and bizarre things can and do happen to the innards of a pc. Did you try holding down the power button for several seconds to shut it down first? You may try holding down the power button for 20-30 seconds without ac or battery connected, then connect ac only and see if it boots.

Its very unfortunate but you've short circuit your power supply and before it get worse, please check it out with your vendor asap. It might cause severe problems.

I'll not suggest you to get your hands on to resolve this.

Hope this helps and you get your laptop up.

It sounds like someone has put a password on your BIOS on your laptop.

The BIOS is what boots up the laptop before Windows even begins to start.

This password will not let you do anything until it is removed.

The best way to fix this without knowing the password or who set it, is to discharge the battery that keeps the BIOS settings in check.

Basically, to do this you need to remove what's known as a CMOS battery from the laptop and leave it out for 5-15 minutes.

The CMOS battery for your laptop, and how to remove it, is located here:

Remove the battery for 15 minutes, put it back in. Your BIOS settings at this point will set back to default and the password will be gone.

Try to remove the battery, hold on power button for about 50-60seconds, then plug-in the charger and turn the laptop ON, see what happens.

Then, un-plug the charger, an pluig-in the battery, try turn the laptop on.

Try this turn OFF the laptop and remove all the power sources (battery and charger). Without the power sources hold the power button 10 secs. Put the power sources back and turn ON the NB.

Thinkpad 600E

IBM Thinkpad error code 19990301 is a Hard-Disk sector problem. Basically your hard-drive is faulty and you need to replace it. This is why it wont boot; because the area of the hard-drive that stores data is damaged.
