Question about Lexmark X7170 All-In-One InkJet Printer

I have had a lexmark printer/fax/scanner for about 3 years. I have never used the fax part. The printer works perfectly well but about a month ago the scanner stopped working. Can you please help. I do not want to buy a new one as I have loads of ink for this one and it would bae a waste. We have reinbstalled the disc that came with it but to no avail. I would really appreciate your help or advice as sto where I can go in London to have it repaired. Kindesat regards Paula McHale

Possible, your printer has worked out whole its resource. Even though his(its) repair technically possible, he will be expensive. Your warranty service was expiredabout 3 years. Think about buying new. Good luck.

My scan button does nothing. How can I scan?


Hello,

When you press the "scan" button on the lexmark, the scanner is trying to connect to a specific software program that in this case you may not have installed.

You will want to try to test the scanner driver directly.
For windows XP and Vista, try the following.

1. Open your start menu
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select "scanners and cameras"
NOTE: for windows Vista, make sure you are in "classic view" to see scanners and cameras.
4. Check whether there is the lexmark listed in this window.

For windows 7, you will need to do something a little different.

1. Open your start menu
2. go to All programs
3. Open "windows Fax and scan"
4. Click on "new scan".
5. Check whether there is the lexmark listed in this window.

If there is no lexmark, you need to check the lexmark website for drivers. If the lexmark is there, try double clicking the icon to run the scan wizard.

Lexmark series x2350 all in one scanner does not work.


You will need to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver again, since the driver installation seems to be incomplete. Please follow the steps given below:

To uninstall, please follow the steps given below:

1. Click on "Start" and "All Programs."
2. Go to the "Lexmark X2300 series."
3. Click on "Lexmark Uninstall."
4. Click on "Next."
5. Click on "Finish."
6. Click on "Restart Windows" and unplug the USB cable.
You may copy and paste the web address below to access the Lexmark X2350 Vista driver to install:

Please use the following steps to download the Lexmark X2350 Vista driver to your desktop:

1. Select "Window Vista" from the drop down list
2. Click on "Download Now."
3. On the "File Download" screen, choose "Save."
4. The next screen will be titled "Save As." Choose to "Save in Desktop" and click "OK."
5. You should see files being transferred.

****Note**** If your browser uses a different file downloading format than specified above, you will need to resort to your browsers help files for downloading instructions. The object of steps 1 - 4 is to download the driver to your desktop. This way it is easily accessible.

6. Once the files have completed downloading, double click on the icon with your file name.
7. On the "Win Zip Self-Extractor" screen click "OK." To unzip the downloaded file choose "Unzip."
8. A screen will then display the number of files unzipped successfully, click "OK."
9. Please follow the on screen instructions to complete installation of your Lexmark printer.

Note: Please plug the USB cable when prompted while installing the driver. The USB cable should still be removed from the system, and the on-screen prompts will remind you of this. Eventually, you will get to a screen asking you to plug in the USB cable. This screen also has an "OK" button. Do not hit this button yet. First, plug in the USB cable. The screen should automatically detect and install the Lexmark X2350 scanner and printer drivers.

Is the scanner driver installed ?. You can check this by unplugging the USB cable from the back of the printer and connecting it again. If you get any Plug and Play prompts on the computer, install the driver by pointing it to the correct scan driver location.

Having trouble getting my scanner to work.


Are you using vista, if so make sure you have the latest drivers. Also, uninstall EVERYTHING for your printer and re install it from scratch from the new download from LEXMARK . com. The new HDD might have Something to do with it, as I have seen a similar case on a PC running vista with a HD crash.

I have bought a lexmark fax,printer,copier X4270 two months ago and it is not working.I do not want you to call or offer me a dicount on it being repaired this is the second lexmark one that I have bought...


IF your printer is 2 months old then if not working you can contact Lexmark and get your printer replaced as its under warranty for free by the company ...

Lexmark z615 Printer cartridges not printing


First you might want to try and go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>
Double click Printer and Faxes
right click the printer. Then select the services tab. at the very least clean the cartridges.

Too lengthy to resolve here, but goto lexmark.com to get "Fax cofiguration" info, I believe a phone line must be attached to printer in order to function as a "fax".
