Just had same problem today. Presumably you've seen the more recent solutions on other web sites regarding replacing the C330 capacitor. It appears to be an over-temperature issue. After trying to press all sorts of buttons, removing plug for a time, leaving off for a time, it just started to work again but I don't know how! The tv stands beside a radiator and this may have been on for a while and caused this problem. Will monitor situation before diving into its innards.

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. What does it mean when the standby light flashes four times on a Sony TV Model # KV-24FV12 ?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it.This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times.Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here.It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Lcd tv light flashing but no picture or sound

If you removed power by turning off power itself to the set instead of turning it off by turning the set itself off---that is not a good thing to do.

When power is restored a surge can and likely hit the power supply in your set---time for a tech or shop to open it---I suspect they will find the standby or main power supply is damaged or now bad.

Hello my television is a sony KV32HX15U , when I switch it on the picture takes about 10 seconds to display the television then stays on for about 20 minutes then switches off into stand by mode and...

Hi Gareth,

This model no. has a built-in "self diagnostic software" that can be access to narrow down where the fault came from.
How to enter to self diagnostic screen display.
1. Turn on the main power switch of the TV and enter into standby mode.
2. Press the following sequence of buttons on the remote control.

Self diagnostic error menu will be display. It has an error code no. with the corresponding numerical digit "0" means no fault detected or "1" fault has been detected. See sample picture below.

Is the sound a high pitched whine? or an arching noise? since half the screen is black I would tend to believe it is a deflection problem. Which is the Horizontal section were having problems you would experience this. Ok first get a schematic for this television. Either contact the manufacture or get one from www.servicemanuals.com Open the set up. Determine where the sound is coming from I guess would be the switching transformer or the IHVT (Integrated High Voltage Transformer) Then if you have one get hold of your multimeter set to dc volts and begin to measure the power supply voltages leading to the Horizontal section. Your problem will be in these sections.
