I have a MacBook and run Parallels Win XP to play the game. My hardware for Win is set to 1 GB RAM and 32 (or 64 MB, tried it also) video RAM. However, the game runs in a small window on the black background and as much as I know my machine meets the minimum system requirements. The funny thing is, other software is working just fine, experienced no graphics problems whatsoever.

Well about guaranteed your 2 gigs ram is probably DDR II ram which has maximum of four gigs with 64 bit processing and 2 with 32 bit is. So motherboard needs upgrade. 35.00 for good giabit or board with 1000 megs a sec ethernet lan. With ddrIII ram. And upgrade operating system I believe win 8 has max 16 gig ram win 7 uses 8 gis vista and longhorn 64 use 4 and xp normal edition 32 bit uses 2 max. So you about have to run win 7 or 8. Win 7 will become direct x incomparable at some point making us change to win 8. Win8 cost like 300 to 350 and tiger direct.com has good deal of the win 7 pro media center for 75 bucks. So spend 150 on good speed 8 gig ram, 125 bucks for 12 core and at 4 GHz I think. And a board for 35. Reuse all other componets. And you\'ll have a 2500 dollar computer and best on the block. The problem is with your graphic card G33/G31. Since its an Integrated graphic card you need a dedicated GPU to run games on decent settings.Earlier i had the same graphic card and i can only play games from 2005.This GPU is too weak to run such games. I suggest you to buy a new dedicated graphic card.
Hi. It seems most of your computer hardware meet the requirements for this game. However, you do not have a separate video card. You are running on an Integrated Graphics Driver that comes with your motherboard. Most of these "default" graphics drivers do not have sufficient processing power to run newer games. I'm surprised you can still play the game tho, even at low speeds. You may have to get a new video card to play this game at full speed.
I have Heroes of Might and Magic 5 Running on Win 7. There were many patches to install before this title worked(on my computer). Have you installed all the available updates for it?
Here are 2 sites that have the compatibility options: http://techpaul.wordpress.com/2009/06/28/compatibility-tricks-for-old-programs-new-machines/ http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html
If that does not work, you can also try to set up XP mode in Win 7: (Note: you need to have Win 7 Pro, Enterprise, or Ultimate for this one) Win 7 Home Premium does not support XP Mode. http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/reviews/2010/01/windows-xp-mode.ars/
I had the same issue.
Find the "My Games" in "My Documents" and then enter the folder called "Capitalism 2" in that folder you will see a file called "Config.dat"
Delete that file and then restart Capitalism 2 and you should no longer get the error and should be able to play normally, without having to reinstall or lose any save games.
The path to the correct folder is:
C:\Users\yourprofilename\Documents\My Games\Capitalism 2
Though it may be different depending on your version of windows.
Most likely the issue you are having is your computer is under powered to run both Vista Home Premium and the game. Vista is heavy on the resources and since you are running Vista Home Premium you will need more then some running the Basic version.
So the easy fix would be to up you memory upto 2 gigs. Note best practice for Vista is to have atlest 2 gigs of ram in the system.
If you still have trouble I would test the game on another Vista computer with a 2.0 or higher CPU to see if it still has trouble. If it does not then most likely it will not work on your computer.
Also if you did an upgrade from XP to Vista you might have so Windows issue. So if the test on the other computer worked you might try a fresh install of Vista to resolve any possible Windows issues.
I am going to say yes. I have basicaly the same as you. The game will lag a bit unless you trun down the settings (Visual) to low. You wont notice the difference in how it looks, but the game will play better. the game is worthe it.. I love it.
If you get it going look me up on the game Pincushion_LTC..
