The fan button on my Casablanca inteletouch swich will not turn on the fan. The light button works but I have to use the power button to turn on the fan which then turns on both the light and the fan. I just replaced the switch but it did not fix the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks

There are two source wires coming out of that unit. One is for the fan the other is for the light. It appears from your descriptions that the issue is related to a wiring issue.

SOURCE: need a replacement fan speed potentiometer.

Okay -- first off, I don't know where she got that number from, but that's idiotic.

The variable-speed switch will provide different readings depending on where it's turned to. If the switch is busted ("open), it will typically display a reading of 'infinity' on your ohmmeter.

And yes -- the best place to find a replacement is Radio Shack, since Casablanca discontinued them.

HOWEVER---

Casablanca's variable-speed ceiling fans -- specifically the "SlumberQuiet" ones, which were made from circa 1980 or 1981 to the early/mid 1990s when variable-speed was discontinued -- are well-known for breaking down. The problem is almost never the potentiometer (variable-speed dial). Rather, the problem is almost always the resistor which is mounted in the heat-sink inside the fan's motor housing. There are NO replacements left for these -- so Casablanca makes a "variable-speed to 3-speed conversion kit", which will convert your fan to a more normal 3-speed pull-chain (hi-med-low) setup.

I hope that helps! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!

SOURCE: Casablanca fan is not working!!

The controler board has gone out due to either a power surge, overheating or too much wattage in the lamps. There are two types of of controlers and both are subject to this kind of failure. Here's a troubleshooting link

SOURCE: Casablanca Intellitouch Fan was working fine..

Sounds like either the IT wall switch has malfunctioned, OR the IT board inside of the fan has shorted out. This is actually a fairly rare problem with the boards and you may get it covered under warranty. Try calling Casablanca. This fan is worth repairing rather than buying a new one.

SOURCE: Intell-Touch instructions for casablanca fan/light

Light Operation: With the light in the off position press and hold the light button (do not let go). The lights should start at a dim setting and gradually get brighter and brighter. When they get to a setting you desire let go of the light button. To reduce the brightness of the light you must first turn the light off, and then press the light button and hold it in as described above. If the light is off, and you press the light button quickly to turn it on, the light will go back to the previous setting. So if you last had the light on the high setting, it will go back to the high setting, if you had the light at a lower setting it will turn back on to the lower setting. Keep in mind you can increase the light intensity at any time by pressing and holding the light button, but to decrease the light intensity, you must first turn the light off, and start over by pressing and holding in the light button.
Fan Operation: With the fan in the off position, press and hold the fan button (do not let go). The fan should start at a slower speed and get faster and faster. When the fan is at the speed you desire, let go of the fan button. To slow down the fan speed you must first turn the fan speeds off by pressing and releasing the fan button. If the fan speeds are off, and you press the fan button quickly to turn it on, the fan will go back to the previous setting. So if you last had the fan at the highest setting, it will go back to the high setting, if you had the fan at a lower setting it will turn back on to the lower setting. Keep in mind you can increase the fan speed at any time by pressing and holding the fan button, but to decrease the fan speed you must first turn the fan off, and start over by pressing and holding in the fan button.

SOURCE: I have a Casablanca Intelli touch ceiling fan.

My fan operates the same way. To reverse it, turn it on a low speed. Then, turn it off and on, then off and on again, quickly. You should hear a series of beeps, and the blades will slow down and then reverse. You may have to play a bit with the timing of the off/on/off/on sequence to get it right but you should be able to get it fairly easily.

Casablanca Isatope 52 inch fan not working

You are exactly correct...

Power flows to the fan as soon as the circuit is closed.

All the light (diming) and motor power, speed & reverse are all
controlled by tones from the switch to a receiver inside the fan housing... (only 2 wires + ground).

I have BOTH (the old style 3 switch) and the newer 4 button "W32" ... use the same tones BUT ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE...

In my opinion
The premier site for ALL FAN switch troubles
is the "FAN-MAN" (see below).

How do you program a casablanca fan remote control to work for the fan?

Howdy,

Casablanca control systems are specific, for instance Inteli-Touch (4 button wall control with power fan light and reverse buttons) uses power line signals to a computer board inside the fan's motor housing and a remote control using RF will not work. However, you do not state what control you have, or what specific control you wish to attempt to use with the fan. Some will work some, will not.

Thanks and Reply so I can better help you!

Casablanca fan stopped working suddenly, both fan & light

You must 'reset' the remote. I've had it happen quite a few times.
1. Turn off power to fan. Then back on.
2. Using remote cycle the following fan buttons from high to med to low, then from low to med to high again. That 'should' fix the problem.

Our casablanca ceiling fan has power going to the fan and the remote works but the fan does not nor does the light

If you have the intelitouch system, It's probably the circuit board in the fan. Casablanca has great motors but touchy boards. I ordered mine from www.fanmanlighting.com and installed it myself, it wasn't too difficult. Hope this helps
