hmmm.. we only have two computers at my work connected to a router. the designjet has a network card going straight to it. i connect to the router wireless and it reads vista. my boss connects to the design jet thru the router as well with a network card rj cable with xp pro. as for our printer it can be connected via router and does work fine but my boss has it directely connected to his computer and i share it off of his system. then we also have a zerox machine connected via router as well. maybe your router is going out? try a new one or a better one and see if that fixes it. it maybe defected or time for a new one.......
if it was working before then maybe its the router.
If this printer is wireless then you can connect it to your wireless router using the setup wizard this will give the printer driver a node name you will have to plugin your ethernet cable to set this up.
If you have other PC's that you want to use the printer add the driver as a USB driver then setup a reservation for the MAC address of the printer say 192.168.0.10.
All you need to do then is to add a standard IP port for the wired computers using this IP reservation.
For a the wireless computers you can do the same but dont use the IP_192.168.0.10 port you will need the to use the node name for example BRN12354
I have created a more detailed post with screen dumps on my tips page check it out.
Have you set up the printer to be shared via the network? You can usually set this up in printer options, through control panel. If the wifi is a closed network, so much the better. That way, nobody else can use the printer. You should be able to do this easily, as long as both computers are connected to the wireless network.
Why don't you get 1 wireless printer and install the software on both computers and print from both? Also if/when you get a network printer set the IP manually. That way it never changes. (read on...)
Sharing printers was all the rage back in 1985 (Back to the Future movie) ... not anymore. Your probably having Windows networking problems. Disappearing hosts on the Windows network ... and everytime you reboot whoever comes on 1st gets to be the Master Browser and keep the list of computers on the WIndows network. And often that one just doesn't "get" the other computer (or two or 3) on the network for some reason.
Also problems can happen if the ip addresses are DHCP assigned (very likely) so they keep changing and one computer remembers an old ip and it gets broken all over again.
No matter how you slice it, if you want to share the printer, you will be creating a network. If I remember this printer correctly, it has an Ethernet port to connect to a network or USB to connect ot a computer. If your router supports wired connections, you can connect it there and just inistall drivers on each device and selec tthe network option. If not, you will probably want to connect it via USB to your desktop machine and enable print sharing on that machine. Te enable printer sharing, open up the Network and Sharing Center. In the Sharing and Discovery section, turn on the option for Printer Sharing. You will still need to install the XP driver on the netbook and select the network option, but give it the proper network location (ie.\\mycomputer\this printer).

Initially, pls try enabling the Share feature of the printer in XP. Pls go to Start, Printers & Faxes, right click on the printer you want to share, click on Sharing...follow on screen instructions. A few suggestions:
verify that the Vista and the XP uses the same Workgroup;
verify that other shared folders and files could be viewed from each other;
verify that each could access the internet from a single connection.
A few questions:
do you have a router or a hub;
how are the XP and Vista connected to the network, LAN cables or wireless.
confirm that it is a HP > PSC 1510 All-In-One InkJet Printer that is connected to the XP machine.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
HP PSC 1410 is neither a Wireless nor a Bluetooth printer.This printer will not support to any network application, but HP PSC 2410 supports.So do not confuse between 1410 and 2410.If you want this printer to be shared in the home network, then thats possible.Also if u have print server that supports USB printer we can achieve connecting this printer in the network.
Do u have any other PC that is connected to the same Home Network?
Please let me Know.
