Travelmate 4200 touchpad mouse doesn't work.

I have a problem with my touchpad mouse, basically it won’t work, but a USB mouse does.
I have not disabled the synaptics point device from startup, the laptop is an acer travelmate 4200.

Accer emachine e725 touchpad mouse not working............

Plug in a USB mouse and then try to download the Acer driver for your touchpad here: http://support.emachines.com/em/driver/index.html

If you install the newest driver off of the Emachines website, and the touchpad still doesn't work, then it is possible that the touchpad has gone bad.

Built in mouse has not worked properly from day 1. Now my external mouse won't work either. I tried a different external moue, but it doesn't work either.

Unplug everything except the power cord, including the following:

Speakers
Printers
Scanners
USB devices
Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs)
USB flash drive or other external storage devices
External Monitor
External Keyboard
External Mouse
If your computer is attached to a docking station, undock it.

Make sure the touchpad or your finger has no dirt, grease, liquids or food on it (the touchpad has to make a good contact with your finger to work correctly).

Turn the computer back on and retest the touchpad.

When the touchpad still does not work correctly proceed to step 5.

When the touchpad does work correctly, attach one external device at a time and test the touchpad to see which one may have caused the issue.

Make sure the latest driver for the touchpad is installed (you may need to use a external USB or Bluetooth mouse), for more information refer to:

How do you reconnect the touchpad

If you have a wired mouse around, you can plug that in, and use it to navigate to the control panel. In Mouse settings, you can re-enable touchpad.
Alternatively, some of the Travelmates have a keyboard shortcut to enable touchpad, Function-F7.
I hope one of these solutions helps!

Laptop mouse not working

Uninstall the mouse sofware again and remove the mouse reciever. re install driver and re connect reciever, but in a different usb port if possible, if still not recognised it maybe that the mouse needs pairing to the reciever, so refer to your manual for help on that.
