I came here looking for a better solution than what I already have. Mine does the same thing at least a few times a day. First make sure that Skype logs you in automatically when your computer starts, second when the phone says disconnected, with the computer on, unplug the usb cable, wait for the phone to say "searching base" and then plug it back in. That usually solves it for me, hope it helps.
I've battled this same problem for the past couple of years and finally found the solution. It seems that this phone's software doesn't play well with other IM programs. So, if I have skype, and only skype up and running the phone fuctions great, however the moment I turn on MSN Messenger or a similar program the phone says disconnected. I haven't gotten to the bottom of the problem, but for the time being I only have skype up and nothing else, phone is better than ever. Will post more as I find it out myself. Hope this helps.
