Hi,
you didn't mentioned the model number, is your cameras lens coming out ?
if the lens part struck or broken this way happens, the remedy is to replace the lens portion.
below is a typical lens part, you can see the gears break in it .

My camera panasonic lumix dmc-s1k screen break

The display being damaged ,the LCD must be replaced.Get estimate of the spare- LCD- before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the authorised service as you do not have to run around for spares.

The picture on the viewing screen is constantly breaking up and when a photo is taken it is covered in lines. I first thought it was the screen, but earlier photos taken are clear, so it makes me think its...

The display beingseen as a breaking image can be due to failure of the LCD or the CCD which is the optical sensor of the camera. So to confirm check the older picture to be seen on the display. Confirm this by checking the card on your PC. If the display is not seen, then the LCD can be faulty, fault on the linking cable or the control board.

However if the older images are seen well then the LCD is working correctly and the fault can be failure of the CCD- charge coupled device in the camera. If you have accidently exposed the camera directly to high intensity light / sunlight, then it is possible that it is damaged. Remove the battery and keep the camera aside to reset and try as a last resort. Get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the authorised service as you do not have to run around for spares.

My son dropped our samsung L201 in the water and now wecantsee what we pic we are taking! The camera will still work as when we got to upload our pics they are fine. Is it fixable and how much please?...

well, maybe the LCD got wet inside it, have it a look and ask how much it can cost. The LCD is the one that previews the display, and the display itself... once you break it, you need it replaced.. hope this helped you out!

When opening len cover I get display on monitor

I do not have a solution to this, but do share the same problem. This was my first digital camera and I was quite happy with the quality of the pictures until it stopped working. I have replaced the camera a long time ago, but wanted to give this little guy a second chance. I have tried to keep the lens open with a piece of tape, and am thinking of breaking it apart to see if I can remove the cover. Any ideas, anyone?

Everything works on my camera, but the screen is black all the time...Like the lcd has gone out or something...

Most likely you have a problem with the LCD display. The displays are very susceptible to breaking if the camera has been dropped. The backlight could be defective too. I have replaced many of these displays in cameras. try to get an estimate to have the display replaced. You'll probably find that the estimate will be fairly high. The displays are not too hard to replace. You might try contacting the parts department at Canon and see if you can purchase the LCD display and repair the unit yourself. I wrote and posted an article on this site on how to replace the displays in Kodak cameras. The prodedure will be fairly similar on most any type of digital camera.

Good luck!

Have you checked to make sure your batteries are fully charged? Thats what happened to me after my camera had sat out in a cold auto trunk for a couple of hours.

Broken screen

Yes it is possible, if you can get the display. This is a very delicate operation. Watch makers stuff. The flex circuit coming off the display is very, very delicate. Remove all screws around the camera body (6 of them)and very carefully pry it apart. The top snaps in place. Remove two screws from the display frame and gently remove the screen. The flex circuit is connected by a micro miniture connector. Unlock the connector by sliding the lock tab on each end. Break it and you are hosed! The flex circuit has no connector and alignment when inserting it is critical. Push the lock tabs back in place. You'll need a very steady hand and tweezers. After replacing the screen power up to test it. If it works, you're home free. Reverse order to put it back together. Break anything...buy a new one. Good Luck

Black LCD screen on camera

Just had the same problem (black display). I moved my hand in front of it and took pictures of things but nothing happened. Then my girlfriend tried to point it to a lamp, and all-of-a-sudden it kinda woke up from a screensaver or something. So weird, but it worked. Perhaps it needs enough light in order to start using the display and lens. I couldn't take any pictures when the LCD was black. So, try pointing it towards a strong light source before you break your camera.
