have you tried switching them in the slots and make sure they are secure try to boot again and if still no boot.

Then you are goin to be unable to use 3 gig.

Your best bet is to ask at your local pc shop what type of memory is best for your system and the gig size for each slot.

Well let me start by saying that it should work. But without being there to see first hand check this out..also make sure you don't have a bad RAM stick by putting it in another machine to test. If all is well then follow directions below:
This is a tool you can use not only for memory but it will give you all the information you need for anything on your computer including slots for RAM and how much you can use. Go to www.cnet.com. Search CPU-Z and download it, it is freeware, already tested by CNET. Run the program and it will show you exactly how to set up your RAM...Let me know if you have any questions.

Test the second stick of memory in the first slot. Confirm that the second stick is not a problem. If it works, then you have a bad slot on the motherboard. Oh, and one other thing--make sure the memory stick speeds are compatible. Match the memory speeds where possible. Post back your findings.

Using the A7V8X board, how can I achieve 3gig of ram? The chips I have found are double sided 1 gig chips, and your board only hold 4 sides (3 slots) Although the BIOS sees the 3072MB Ram, it cannot use...

When using DDR400 (PC3200) the system supports a maximum of 2 banks of memory, when using DDR333 (PC2700) the system supports a maximum of 4 banks of memory. A single DIMM will either have 1 or 2 banks of memory, so the best bet seems to be 3 x 1gb single sided ram strips.

Wats the most ram for acer 3680 notebook

The most RAM (Random Access Memory) you can ad to a Acer Aspire 3680 Notebook is 2 GB. There is only 2 slots for RAM so I would get two 1 GB RAM sticks for a total of 50$.

Shouldn't be too hard to replace, just flip it over and unscrew the compartment.

Good luck,

I have an acer aspire 3680. when i turned it on, the fan,hdd works but the screen turn black. i did try to connect it a VGA screen but i's not on. is it the mainboard problems?

you may consider if no display at LCD and VGA monitor both:
1) you may change RAM or change the RAM slot
2) take out the wireless card from MINI PCI slot
3) still black screen that should be any damage of display chips or isolated memory (all BGA chips)on the motherboard
hope it help you troubleshooting

Upgrading acer laptop RAM

Hi,
You Can Actually Upgrade This To 2 Gig Memory.
Each Slot Will Take 1 A Gig Strip.
I,d suggest Buying another 256 mb Strip, To Put Into Slot 2.
Or Buy a 512mb ( Half Gig ) Which Will Give you 750mb With your Existing Strip Already In There. ** Recommend 1 Gigabyte Max** 2 gig of Ram in This Baby Would Probably Start Glowing.
You Can Buy DDR/266/333 In 256/512/1 Gig Strips. These Are Commonly Known As SD-RAM-Modules.

RAM ON acer computers

Yes... just need to purchase the right stuff.

You need to determine if you have DDR or DDRII. And then determine if you have one stick of 512, or if you have 2 sticks of 256. Once you know this information, visit your local Best Buy or purchase somewhere online, a memory upgrade. Such as 2 sticks at 512mb for 1 gig total. Assuming you have two memory slots, should have anyway.

DDRII is fairly cheap right now, be a good time to upgrade. DDR on the other hand, is still a little more expensive.
