Possibly an issue with a blocked port, magicjack uses ports 5060 and 5070 UDP. You may need to forward them in your firewall software or if you have a router that has a firewall you may need to enable port forwarding and enter those numbers. If that doesn't work find out if these are blocked by your ISP.

It is a problem with your phone provider not with your phone you have to make them check with the signal if it's sending beep request.

If your MagicJack does not ring , then it is faulty, insist with their customer support to get a replacement.

First test that the phone is not broken on a regular handset.

Magic Jack is supposed not having any influence on phone regular ringing , see what they say:When a call comes in on my magicJack line, will my phone ring?

Call them and have your magic jack replaced, ...after ensuring this is not a broken phone.

just test the phone on a regular plug, and eventually test magic jack with a different phone.

If the problem persist just ask to replace magic Jack, there is nothing to fix here.

Either the phone or magic jack are defective. have the magicjack replaced if the phone is ok.

You need Magicjack chat again, but this time to replace the magicjack, it is defective, they say magic jack does not have any influence on phone ringing, see::When a call comes in on my magicJack line, will my phone ring?

    ask them a replacement.

Have you tried a different hub, to verify that power is being supplied from the adapter? We had a batch of hubs through at work, which although had power supply attached, were not passing the extra power on to the USB Ports. Thus, the only power getting through was from the PC, which ran short fairly quickly.

Could be solved with a powered USB expander. I see some people need this just to get the Magic Jack to work.

Also, have you tried a different phone to see if that rings?

Posted on Mar 06, 2009

  • Roger Gantner Mar 06, 2009

Keep in mind, it needs to be a powered USB hub. A none powered one, MagicJack might not get enough power from the computers USB port to work the ringer.

You cant do it youraelf. You either have to chat online with magicjack and hope that they can deregister your device so you can try it again, or maybe theyll be nice enough to do it from their end for you. Getting a Canadian telephone number takes much longer online that getting a USA number. Sorry, but your only choice is to chat online with them or try calling them if you can find a telephone number for them. Depending where you live in Canada, it might be better to have the USA magicjack number, setup a Canadian Fongo number, and have the magicjack number forwarded to your Fongo line. Now your Fongo can be forwarded to most Canadian numbers, and with your magicjack app installed in your cell phone you can call anywhere in north america for free using wifi or mobile cell phone data. Plus you can still physically uae your magicjack device to make or receive calls if you physically need it. Thank you and good luck,

The intercom on my AT&T MLS-12 will not ring when called.

Your ringer volume may be down or you may have call forwarding or do-not-disturb active. Try adjusting the volume button while not making a call (with the handset on hook). check if any button indicator lights are active on the phone such as call forward or do no disturb.

Hi I have a vtech Hannah Montana Cordless phone and it won't ring. It has a slash through the ringer bell on the screen. I've tried the ringer settings taking the battery out and the tone and...

These can be the only things that are causing your problems:

Ringer mute
You can mute the ringer temporarily when the telephone is ringing.
Press OFF/CLEAR or MUTE to temporarily silence the ringer. The next call will ring normally.

Ringer volume
You can change the handset ringer volume to a comfortable level. The ringer can also be turned off so the telephone does not ring when there are incoming calls.
To adjust the ringer volume:
Press MENU/SELECT to display the menu when the handset is not in use.
Press or to select >RINGER VOLUME, then press MENU/SELECT.
Press or to adjust the volume. A sample of each volume level will be played as you adjust it.
Press MENU/SELECT to save your selection. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Make sure the ringer is on (page 8).
Make sure the telephone line cord and power adapter are plugged in properly (page 2).
The handset may be too far from the telephone base. Move it closer to the telephone base.
There may be too many extension phones on the telephone line to allow all of them to ring simultaneously. Try unplugging some of them.
If the other telephones in your home are having the same problem, the problem is in the wiring or local service. Contact the local telephone company (charges may apply).
Other electronic products can cause interference to your cordless telephone. Try installing your telephone as far away as possible from the following electronic devices: wireless routers, radios, radio towers, pager towers, cellular telephones, digital telephones, intercoms, room monitors, televisions, VCRs, personal computers, kitchen appliances, and other cordless telephones.
Test a working telephone at the telephone wall jack. If another telephone has the same problem, the problem is in the telephone wall jack. Contact your local telephone company (charges may apply).
The telephone line cord might be malfunctioning. Try installing a new telephone line cord.
Wait for the handset to synchronize with the telephone base. Allow up to one minute for this to take place.

In case of a problem or clarification or my solution was insufficient, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.

How do I receive faxes with the 240c

Hi,

Manual mode turns off all automatic answering functions unless you are using the Distinctive Ring feature or you are using an external answering machine on the same line as the Brother machine.

*Distinctive Ring is a function of your Brother machine that allows a person with one line to receive fax and voice calls through two different phone numbers on that one line. Brother uses the term "Distinctive Ring," but telephone companies market the service under a variety of names, such as Custom Ringing, Personalized Ring, Smart Ring, Ring Master, Ident-a-Ring, Ident-a-Call, Data Ident-A-Call, Teen Ring, SimpleBiz Fax & Alternate Number Ringing and BT Call Sign.
  1. Setting the Receive Mode
    1. Press Menu.
    2. Press the up or down arrow key to select Initial Setup.
    3. Press OK.
    4. Press the up or down arrow key to select Receive Mode.
    5. Press OK.
    6. Press the up or down arrow key to select Manual.
    7. Press OK.
    8. Press Stop/Exit.

Receiving Faxes in Manual Mode
  1. Lift the handset of a telephone that is on the same line as your Brother machine.
  2. When you hear the sending machine's fax tones (short beeps that occur at regular intervals), do one of the following:
    • If the telephone you answered is near your Brother machine or connected to its EXT jack(socket), press Black(Mono) Start or Color(Colour) Start.
    • If the telephone you answered is not connected to or near your Brother machine, press *51 (*91 for New Zealand) on its dial pad.
  3. Your Brother machine will produce receiving tones.
  4. Replace the telephone handset. Your Brother machine will begin to receive the fax.

< Easy Receive (Fax Detect) >
The Easy Receive (Fax Detect) feature allows you to receive faxes in Manual Mode by simply lifting the handset of a telephone that is on the same line as the Brother machine. Your Brother machine will automatically generate fax receiving tones, at which point you can replace the telephone handset and wait for your fax to be received and printed.

Your Brother machine's Easy Receive (Fax Detect) feature is turned ON by default. To adjust your Brother machine's Easy Receive (Fax Detect) setting, please follow these steps:

  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press the up or down arrow key to select Fax.
  3. Press OK.
  4. Press the up or down arrow key to select Setup Receive.
  5. Press OK.
  6. Press the up or down arrow key to select Easy Receive or Fax Detect.
  7. Press OK.
  8. Press the up or down arrow key to select On, Semi or Off. *In some brother machines, Semi may not be in the options.
If you choose Semi, your Brother machine will only answer an incoming fax if you answer using its handset or by pressing the Hook, Hook/Hold, Hold, Speaker Phone or Tel/R key on its control panel.
  9. Press OK.
  10. Press Stop/Exit.

Note Here are a couple of points to keep in mind:
  • If Easy Receive (Fax Detect) is ON, but your Brother machine doesn't automatically answer the incoming fax when you lift the extension telephone's handset, press *51 (*91 for New Zealand).
  • If you send faxes from a computer that is on the same telephone line as the Brother machine and the Brother machine intercepts the calls, turn Easy Receive (Fax Detect) OFF.

Please post your feedback and Vote if the problem resolved as per your satisfaction.

Phones don't ring

Caller ID is a service that is provided by your telephone service provider and not the phone. If the phone company isn't sending your line Caller ID data, your phone won't display it. As for getting the handsets to ring, try pushing the volume up key while the handset is off, the more times you push the button, the louder the ring will get until you are at max ring volume. Also, some models have a "Do Not Disturb" feature which turns the ringer off. Without knowing which model phone you have I cannot tell you how to turn this feature on/off. but you can look it up in your manual online at http://www.uniden.com/index/manuals_results.cfm?cat=1
