You would probably have to fix your joystick(by pulling it apart) if you cant to that carry it to someone

I dropped my Psp 2000 three feet from the ground. It was turned off. When I turned it back on every character in a game that I play turn left. I have tried default settings and nothing has worked.

It sounds like the left button is jammed down, or the joystick is stuck to the left. The only way to fix this is to take the faceplate off and replacing the joystick module.

Changed cover on psp from black to white. When playing a game characters seem to wonder off in directions with out touching the psp controls?

Check that when you changed the case, no buttons were possibly caught anywhere that would cause them to function without moving. Also check that when you pulled it apart and put back together, the pads stayed in a centre position, because if they are to the left and you turn on the unit, it will detect the centre being to the left, as opposed to being in the centre. I hope this helps you. Good Luck.

My psp won't play any games properly

Loading a custom firmware will solve this problem, because this problem is related to your PSP's firmware that's why it wont play any game at all...

When in a psp game the game charater moves on its own how can i stop this [on all my games] psp fairly old

The problem you described is a problem INSIDE of the psp. If you know a regular nintendo controller with the 4 direction pads used to control a characters movement that is exactly what is under your joystick inside of the psp. Something is stuck and the only solution is to take apart your psp ( which will void the warranty) or send it in for repairs

Directional Button and L Button Problem and another problem.

I think there might be a problem with your configuration, remove all plugin then try to restore to default setting on setting menu. and/or if your psp installed Custom firmware, the umd speed are set to fast. do this via recovery menu (hold R trigger while turn on psp). you may need to fix L button if it is stuck. you may consoder sending it back to Sony for repair. You can call SONY support at 1-800-345-7669. hope this helps.

That is what is happening to me except it is in mid game and not on the home screen. I have to pull the battery out also and start playing again. You would think buying Sony and for the price it would work better, so is Sony now making second grade handheld game console.
