My Kenmore side by side Refrigerator Model No. 253.55679403 will not freeze or cool, ice is melting and food is thawing. Light comes on and I can hear a fan or something, but I'm n ot sure. Can you help?

if you hear a fan in the freezer section when the door is open. feel the bottom of the fridge for hot air blowing. if you dont feel any hot air at the bottom, the condenser fan is the problem. if you do feel hot air then you have a defrost issue.

Amana arb2517cb is running but not cooling or freezing. What might the problem be? The fan is running, blowing cool air.

If in the freezer is warm and the compressor not running but fans are then we need to start at compressor by unplugging and pulling away from wall remove the cover over the compressor and feel the top to see how hot. If too hot to keep hands there leave the plug out of the wall and tell me and I will help or if you don't feel like this is something you can do then it may be better to call in service. Let me know, Sea Breeze

The freezer side does not freeze on the top shelf. The refrigerator freezes everything in the bottom but reads 47 degrees and doesn't cool the top shelves. The fan under the fridge runs fine.

Behind the back wall of the freezer about halfway down, probably behind the light bulb (if there is one there) there is a fan. My guess is that the fan isn't working, or is slow. To test, open the freezer door, then hold the door switch closed and listen for the fan.

This fan should be blowing air up the back of the freezer, and send some of the cold air through a vent at the top of the freezer into the fridge. The air then descends through the fridge and reenters the freezer through a vent at the bottom. If the fan is broken, or if the upper vent is somehow blocked or broken, the cold air will enter (rather than exit) the fridge side at the bottom vent. Because cold air tends to descend and warm air rises, the cold air will freeze the stuff at the bottom of the fridge, and the thermostat (at the top of the fridge) will say it is warm.

Westinghouse fridge: no cool air circulating inside

Art, I need to get a little more information from you. Does the condenser fan under the refrigerator seem to work and blowing warm air from below and or behind the refrigerator? The motor feeling warm is OK. Only when too hot to touch on top. Needs to cycle also. When you opened the freezer did you hear the fan blowing? Thanks, JT

Refrigerator/Freezer not cooling

check freezer for frost build up and if fan blowing, check condenser make sure clean, and fan blowing, by compressor Make sure compressor is running and not shutting off on overload.. u said comp. hot.. should be warm... Not hot check vents in refrig. make sure no blockage, freezer control should be in the middle setting, you can try turning that to Warmer freezer allowing MORE air to refrigertor side.
