SOURCE: pioneer vsx d608-no sound

this is an IC failing , it changes the pre amplified audio to the amp.but there is most likely something causing this failure as well ,to much voltage to the chip , it will need testing

Its just a wire covered with a shield. You can ohm it out with a multimeter.

No sound using optical cable connected to LG smart tv 60LN5600

Your receiver has 2 optical inputs. If you plugged in the cable to Input 1, you can select the "CD-R" Input on the receiver. Then use the "Signal Select" button to select Optical 1 (O1).

You can also use the "Input Select" buttons on the remote until the receiver says "Digital". Then use the "Signal Select" button to select Analog (A), Coaxial 1 (C1), Optical 1 (O1), or Optical 2 (O2).

Pioneer turntable to Pioneer VSX 515 receiver

I'm not sure what you mean by "Wot", but I assume you mean that the receiver doesn't have a phono input, as most receivers now a days don't. You will need a phono preamp. Cost is under $25.00. It provides the amplification to be able to use any high level(CD, DVD, AUX, etc) input as well as the RIAA equalization you need to decode the record correctly. Proform crosswalk 515 control board works but belt won't move/

lube the deck belt, you have deck worn, proceed in according with the instruction manual maintenance. 2) check the drive belt and replace it if necessary and tight 3) tes the input voltage motor, if there are the motor need repair or replace 4) test the output voltage from main board, for input voltage for the main motor, if there are NOT, the board is faulty.
Try if you can RUN the software calibration for diagnose and troubleshooting.
sincerely. God bless you.

I have a Pioneer VSX-515 6.1 system and I am trying to hook up my phono to it. I am not sure which input to use. Right now the only input I have is my CD player.

Like many newer receivers, this model doesn't have a phono input. I guess manufacturers think nobody listens to vinyl today. You can still hook a turntable to one of the extra audio inputs on this unit, but you'll need a phono preamp. The output level from the turntable is too low to drive a "line level" input directly, and the preamp boosts and equalizes the signal so it will work properly. Radio Shack still carries a preamp; you can order online or find it in some of their stores. Many other sources are available online, and if you have a good stereo shop in your area they probably stock one. Plug the turntable to the preamp input, connect the preamp output to the receiver and that's it. You'll also need an AC outlet nearby as the preamp needs power.

I am trying to hook my playstation 3 up to the pioneer vsx 510 using a digital optic cable. I have everything set on the playstation but still cannot get any sound. I am not that familiar with the reciever...

Be sure youve selected the optical output option on your ps3 (in sound options on your XMB) ... now on the back on the amp under the optical input it says CD. Select CD input using the toggle know or your remote and then on the front of the amp press the button labeled"signal select"(in between DSP select

No sound from dvd player plugged into the coax input??

Confirm your cables are all in good working order. Take each calbe and repeat this step for each cable you have for your DVD Player.
This step is often overlooked.
Cables can wear without visible evidence.
Good luck.

Phono plays lower in volume than cd and tuner. Sounds ok i guess but is about a quarter to one third lower in volume. Is this normal ? Can I plug phono into cd jacks to check if any better ?

Hello. As per the post before me, if you have a receiver with a Phono input(many receivers don't have one anymore) the output of a phono cartridge is around 30 millivolts, vs 300 millivolts for a CD(10 times the amount) or any other line level device. A Phono preamp, also has RIAA(recording engineering standards)Equalization that provides the proper equalization for a Phono cartridge. As per the other post, yes, it will sound very low, and unnatural sounding. If the input you are plugging the turntable input into, doesn't say Phono, you can purchase an inexpensive Phono preamp made just for this very issue. You can try Radio Shack, or find something of better quality on the Internet.

Dave

IT'S A PIONEER VSX-515

Either you plugged the TV outputs into the wrong input or you accidentally set it for the wrong Input mode (i.e. your using analog cables but it's set to look for digital optical).
