I did the updates and it erased all my information on the device including all the programing. Is there a way to reload the go gear programing?

If it says "your firmware is up to date," then you are good to go.

If it says, "Firmware cannot be updated," then you are still good to go.

The device performance window is a Windows-related function that will do nothing whatsoever to spped up your Philips Go Gear.

The back button triggerred the Repair function. As long as you don't have a problem with your player, then you are fine. If you were trying to repair your GoGear, and it said "Failed to Update Firmware," then either: a)you are not connected to the internet, or b) your Go Gear is toast and needs to be repalced. Call Philips and fins out if you are still in warranty.

Aha! A Magnavox - you can still go to Philips' website, since they are the same company, or you can go to www.m4c.magnavox.com

    Enter your model #

Go to the page for your model

Click on Software & Drivers - get the latest "Device/Firmware Manager"

Install and open the new Philips/Magnavox Device Manager that you have just downloaded

Click on the "Update" button (will only appear if your player is connected to PC)

    Update the firmware

The Philips and Magnavox players have a weird characteristic - in order to get a firmware update, you can't use the version of the Device Manager that came with the CD - you have to update the device manager first.

If you had simply said the part about "your device can perform..." blah blah blah - I would've thought that you plugged it into a USB port that was weaker than a USB 2.0 port (this is especially common with laptops). But, since you mentioned firmware, I would go ahead and update the firmware.

The philips go gear mix 2GB doesnot play, it updates to only 40% as i turn it on, and then it shuts down automatically. Guess some internal file/software is missing, i might have deleted it by mistake

Firstly, I'd suggest that you do a soft reset of your player. You will find the reset button next to the 'power on' button on the side of the player. Please hold the Reset button using a pen tip or other sharp object for 10 seconds. Now turn it on.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest that you format your player or repair it using Philips Device manager. Contents may be removed by using this function. So make sure to back up your contents.

Format:
On your computer desktop, double-click "My computer". Double-click on the MP3 player's icon. Right-click on the Internal Storage icon and then select "Format".

Repair using Device manager:
Launch Device Manager and click the Tool menu and select "Repair", then follow the instructions to perform the repair process. Make sure all other applications such as Philips Plug-in, Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer that access the device are closed or else Device Manager will not recognize the device.

Hope this works.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest that you format your player or repair it using Philips songbird or device manager. If your model number starts with SA1..... your player supports device manager. If it starts with SA2.... then it uses Philips Songbird. You can install them from the CD that came with your player or download it from Philips support site.

I accidentally deleted files and now I can not activate the device

In this case you can download the software from Philips support site. Here is the link:

Make sure all other applications such as Philips Plug-in, Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer that access the device are closed or else Device Manager will not recognize the device.

My rcam4204-a will not turn on /i have held the on button down for at least a minute or two with no response/when i plug into comp/it says please connect your device /even thou it is connected

You might want to try doing a firmware reinstall.

You can download the firmware update here:
http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2558

Follow the directions to perform the install. If there is any media on your device you don't want to lose, be sure to back it up before you do the firmware reinstall.

It says use device manager to repair but i tried that and it didnt work can you please help

i think it s the steps you performed the repair matters.
This is the steps i tried and works.

1) open device manager,
2) connect your player to the PC
3) open repair tab on the device manager
4) disconnect player
5) re-connect player while pressing Vol+
6) see pop-up asking you to release Vol +
7) click "repair" in the popup to perform repair
8) see notification of repair done

if after performing repair, it still doesnt work, i think u have to send it to repair centre.

My mp3 player doesnt work

Did you hold the power button down for a couple of seconds? It will not come on by just pushing it. It has to be held down.
