Compaq nx9600 I recently replaced the power supply. The new one lasted 2 days, but never charged the battery. What could be the reason for blowing out 2 power supply within 2 weeks?
The battery did not get hot. When I plug in the power supply now, the light comes on and then slowly goes outThe battery did not get hot. When I plug in the power supply now, the light comes on and then slowly goes out
this sounds like the dc connector jack is shorting or a faulty charging circuit on the motherboard. does the batt get hot or the area where the adapter goes in ??this sounds like the dc connector jack is shorting or a faulty charging circuit on the motherboard. does the batt get hot or the area where the adapter goes in ??

Ok, lets start slowly, do you have both a new battery and a new battery charger? If both attempt to use your old battery with the new charger. Also could be a bad charger or a shorted out battery... Good Luck
I know some methods to reset bios password. 1. The best and easiest method: Close OS and shut down the electricity power of computer. Open your computer box, take out the cmos battery from the mainboard. Then the bios password will be reset to blank. Put it back after a few minutes. 2. Follow some tutorials. For example the tutorials: Reset HP / Dell BIOS Password.
First, remove battery and insert power cable then try switching it on. if it powers, then insert battery back when its powered. if it doesn't power, check your power adapter first and make sure it didn't get blown. check whether voltage is reaching.
Regards
If you charged up your battery up for 2hrs but didnt increase the percentage or didn't charge up at all it means that your battery is faulty. I have also a same case with you.
Send it to the service center near you and ask them to rplace your battery. Replacement is free if machine is under warrant.y
The Compaq NX 9600 is rather a complicated and somewhat notorious problem child. One of HP's better ideas, and a good one when it is working.
Disconnect Power adapter from PC Remove Battery Hold down power on button for 30 seconds Remove both memory modules, Stot1 and Slot2. Re-install battery Re-connect power adapter Attempt to reboot. If nothing happens the book says replace the motherboard which is very pricey.

Read the manual to determine my power supply is supposed to re-charge the watch and date power supply. Since this isn't happening and I don't have a recently purchased battery for it, I'll buy a new camera battery to see if it corrects the problem. If it doesn't correct the problem, the internal power supply that runs the date and time feature (2 days without the camera battery in the camera) will have to be replaced.
Sounds like the battery or possibly the charging circits themselves are the problem. Can you try turning on the laptop with just the power cord in and no battery?
