A friend has given me a Tungsten W. Unfortunately he does not have the original installation discs. I have a Tungsten C and I have tried a staight sync to transfer my data onto the Tungsten W. After zyncing the Tungsten W boots up but freezes on the first screen. What can I do to overcome this problem? Thanks, Ron

Procedures for a HARD RESET

1. Hold down the power button on the front panel of the handheld.

2. While holding down the power button, use the reset tip tool, or the tip of an unfolded paper clip (or similar object without a sharp tip), to gently press and release the reset button.

To complete the hard reset, when a message appears on the
handheld screen warning that you are about to erase all the data on your handheld, press Up on the navigator. The Digitizer screen
appears; follow instructions to recalibrate your handheld screen.

IMPORTANT If you want to back out of the hard reset, do not press Up on the navigator; instead, press any application button on the front of your handheld. This action performs a soft reset. Pressing a keyboard key has no effect.

I have a Palm Tungsten E2. I just got a new computer and downloaded the hotsync software from Palm in hopes to back up my Tungsten E2 by syncing it to the new computer. It is now asking me for a password...

Try using 0000 - that is four zeros - or 1234.
Those are the usual default passwords given by that manufacturer. When all else fails, contact the manufacturer! If you haven't already tried simply pressing the Enter Key with no password in the dialog box first.
Good Luck!

I haven't used my palm in a while

If you don't remember the Palm password, you'll have to do a hard reset, which will erase all of the data.

Then, please download the latest Palm Desktop version from Palm.com and install it on your system.

After both of these steps, you should be able to sync.
