Cool Utility to get Dell Inspiron 1300 CPU/Fan?

I don't know why DELL doesn't have a utility you can use to read the CPU/Fan Temperatures of you DELL Laptop. I have an Inspiron 1300 and this little utility works perfectly. It even allows you to control the Fan speed.
Get It Here: http://www.laptopbattery-usa.com/dell-inspiron-1300-laptop-cpu-fan-p-1244.html
He even has a command prompt version you can use. There is a full compatibility list of all the DELL Notebooks that this utility will work with.

Look for the model on the fan and search for that model on ebay. In fact you probably could just search on ebay for Dell Inspiron 1420 CPU Fan and get it.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530. Was getting 2 quick beeps on start up and loud fan noise. I replaced the cpu fan but the one I bought did not have the right plug for the motherboard connection. I had to modify...

This model (as well as many other Dell desktops) has a DUAL SPEED CPU fan. If the motherboard detects that the CPU temp is running hot it will increase the speed of the CPU fan to lower the temp of the CPU. You should do a Google search for the correct CPU fan and purchase it and install it back into your computer.

Cpu fan of dell desktop otiplex gx520 running faster than usual with a loud noise . How can I resolve it?

Either your fan is dirty or your fan is malfunctioning. If you have a warranty then call Dell to replace the fan (they will run some test first), or if you know how to replace the fan i would suggest that first.

Dell usually comes with a Diagnostic Disk that you can boot from to troubleshoot, if you do not have the disk then the built in Diagnostic Utility can help you. This will also help tell you if there is anything else wrong with the machine, the test takes long so be patient.

To get to the Diagnostics Utility follow these steps:

1. Reboot the computer and press "F12" and you will be taken to a "Boot Menu".
2. Select the Diagnostic Utility (might have a different name)
3. Walk through he steps to test your computer. This Utility will test everything that's why the disk is better. The disk will allow you to choose which test to run.

If you do not have the built in Diagnostic Utility and do not have the disk then visit the Dell website, choose support and type in your Service Tag number. Then download the utility, this site can also determine if you still have a warranty on the machine (but your GX520 is quite old and might be out of warranty)

Please rate if this helps

If you are concerned about the CPU temperature you could try installing a temperature control utility from here

http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/

I have used a similar program designed for toshiba laptops and that one was very useful. I can't guarantee the performance of this one for Dell but it's worth a try. It should give you a reading for the CPU temperature and the ability to adjust the fan control temperatures.
