If you mixed refrigerents, the system charge needs to be recovered and labeled mix gases. Then you can try a system flush, ( never used before ) but sold at the supply houses for flushing r-22 line sets before installing r-410a equipment.

What type of refrigerant should be used in a Mitsubishi ms09tw 2001 air conditioner?

The answer is R410A.

Refrigerant Types in a Central Air Conditioner
There are 2 different types of air conditioning refrigerant currently used in residential cooling systems. R-22, commonly referred to a Freon and R410A, a blend considered to be more environmentally friendly, sometimes called Puron.

R410A (sometimes known as Puron), is the industry's choice to replace R-22 in central air conditioning systems. It is less reactive with the environment while having the same home cooling characteristics of R-22. R410A is not interchangeable with R-22-you choose one or the other and your air cooling equipment is designed to operate with it. When you purchase a R-410A system, a new line set is included with your central air installation as well as a new evaporator coil. Our experience with R-410A has been excellent. New cooling systems have been dependable and efficient, as well as operating quieter! R-410A is the refrigerant of the future!

Less reactive with the environment
Replaces R-22 in the year 2020
Cannot be used with R-22 systems
Quiet and dependable
Freon, R22, heat pump refrigerant
R-22 also known as Freon has been used for decades as the refrigerant in central air conditioning systems. However it has been linked to Ozone depletion and has therefore been banned from being manufactured after the year 2010. It's price will increase as the supply decreases.

Good luck,

I have central air and I was wondering how do you put freon in it because its not blowing out cool air

Is the compressor starting? On the outdoor unit you will see a large copper pipe and a small copper pipe. Is the larger of the two cold to the touch? wet? Just because a central air system is not blowing cool air does not mean it needs freon. If you have clogged filters it cannot do an air exchange. So, I would recommend checking the easiest things first before adding Freon. Most people make the mistake of adding Freon and overcharge their system. In a low load situation you can slug the compressor with liquid and your system is ruined. If you do have to add Freon it indicates that you have a leak. An AC System is a closed system and if it is working properly you should not have to add Freon.

Ok i have 40.00 dollars and need freon for my home central ac unit, how would i put it in the unit? can u please help me?ok it blows out warm air instead of cold air and the thermastat is saying 88 degrees...

Depending on where you live, you would need another
200.00 to buy the freon and another 60.00 to buy the
refrigerant gauges.

Turn the unit off outside, turn your thermostat all the way to cool and as low as it will go. Go back outside
and turn the power back on, The condensor fan and the compressor should both be on.

If neither one is on, or one is and one is not then 40.00 might be able to buy you a hard start kit

Evaparotor coil

  • This is a tough one for a home owner, it takes a advanced tech to find it, with specialized tools. There is one thing that a home owner can try; in a central air conditioning system, oil circulates in the lines along with the freon. So when there is a leak, the oil will excape also, leaving a oil slick, showing up on the coil as a dirty stop, because dust and dirt will stick to the oil.
If the leak is small, it is harder to find, if it is completely flat - no freon - it should be easier to spot,
A HVAC service tech will use electronic sniffers, using a limited amount of freon and bringing the pressure up in the system, using nytrogen.
In really tough ones, a dye is put into the system, and ran for awhile, then a black light is used to located the leak.
I am sorry that I don't have better news, but this will keep you informed on the whole proccess.
Have a great evening.

I have a Nordyne unit I need to locate where the freon is put in the air conditioning central air unit

The refrigerant is charged into the system on the low side or the larger line outside at the condensor. Unless you have an EPA card to buy R22 you have to have a service tech Mainly for your safety. Get a free estimate wont cost you anything and you know upfront what it will cost. Rus

Central air conditioner won't stay running

Sounds like it cycles on either head pressure or low pressure. If you have a Carrier unit it has both controls. Is your outside fan running. Is your condensor dirty. A unit that old needs to checked bby a service tech. Remember freon does just go away. If he puts gas in your unit there is leak. HINT Ask for free estimate on repair before it is fixed. That way you know the cost up front. Rus

How do i put freon in my central heat and air my central heat and air unit is a payne

This job is best done by service tech. You have to know what your doing to be able to charge a system. Plus you have to have EPA card to handle Refrigerant. You need to call service tech. Remember if you have to put gas in there isa leak. Make sure they look for one if you ahve it recharged. A unit can run forever on the same gas. Cost of chargeing an AC can very from 100 to 300 dollars. My suggestion is to ask for a free estimate. So you know up front what it will cost. Rus

Central AC unit not cooling

If you have access to your piping system you may use a soap bubbles to test the pipe connection. the leak gas will blow the bubbles if there is leaking. But if your system is out off freon gas, you can not use this method. just try it check the connection first put the bubbles around it.
