Hi there
you can also go to device manager and on your sound device right click on it and select remove than answer yes and the computer will remove the device than restart the computer and once the computer is restarted on your taskbar you will see a found new hardware and it will install the driver for the device than it will tell you that your device is installed and is ready to be used now just go back to sounds and set everything like you want it.
best regards mike

Make sure your mute is not on, your volume is turned up, your speakers are plugged into the correct port, and the sound drivers are installed for your sound device.

  • Turning the mute on and off and volume up
  1. Down by the clock there is something that looks like a little grey speaker. If you left-click does, is the Mute check box, checked?
  2. Make sure the volume bar is up. You should hear a "beep" sound when you click and move the slider up and down. This signifies the volume.
  • Speaker Port
  1. Check that the speakers of your PC are plugged into the correct port. On most motherboards and sound cards, the correct port for the front left and right speakers are usually color coded as a "light green".
  2. Ensure the speakers are plugged into this port.
  • Make sure the drivers for your sound device are installed
  1. Go to Start -> Control Panel
  2. Double-click on "System" (without quotes)
  3. Select the "Hardware" tab (without quotes)
  4. Click the "Device Manager" button (without quotes)
  5. If you see something that mentions sound device and it has a yellow question mark or yellow exclamation mark next to it, the drivers are not installed correctly or there are errors with the device.
  • If the above steps do not work
  1. If the above steps do not work, consider having your PC professional checked out as there are several other things that MAY be wrong with the PC and diagnosing these issues via the internet would be near impossible.
I hope this helps you resolve your problem.

My computer shows sound card not installed every time after starting and sound is not available.

What you need is a sound card driver.
Download it from the internet. To do that you need the following.
(1)The Brand name of you computer.
(2)The Model of your Computer
(3)The Manufacturer of your sound card
(4)The Operating System on your computer

Sounds on internet wont work!

If the sound works with all other software but "the internet", and by that I presume you actually mean web surfing, did you try installing a different browser, or uninstalling and reinstalling the one you are using?

That has a good chance of fixing the problem IF the only time you are having an issue with sound is when surfing the net.

Sound card is not there in my sstem, can i down load from internet

A sound card is a hardware device. You cannot download it from the internet! You have to purchase it from a store that sells them :)
This is what a sound card looks like - 2e808fe.jpg

In case you meant Sound card drivers, then I suggest that you provide me with the model number of your sound card; I'll provide you with links to websites that allow you to download the drivers for your sound card.

I formated my pc and now i dont have sound!!!

If you have the discs that came with the sound card/computer, run the installation program from that.

If not and you have internet access from that computer and it's a Windows OS, try this:
go to "System" under in "Control Panel."
Click the "Hardware" tab.
Click the "Device Manager" button.
Find the "Audio Devices" (or "sound"...can't remember...it has the megaphone picture next to it)
Expand the tree if it's not already expanded(click the plus sign next to it)
Right click the Icon under the "Audio Devices" with a yellow question mark and select properties. (there might be a selection to "install driver." if so, select that.
When it asks if you want it to search for drivers on the internet, select "yes, this time only"
It should find what you need.

If not you'll need to find out what company has the made your sound card and go to their website or google "(company's name) audio drivers."

If you don't have internet access on that computer, you can find a computer with internet access, find the driver (by going to the company website or googling), and save it to USB memory stick, or CD and copy it to your computer.
