while in guest or safe mode, view you /Document and Settings/"you name"/Start Menu/Programs/Startup. See if there is a shortcut of a program you recently installed. If you have multiple shortcuts try disabling one at a time. Please post back.

Boot up and go to start , select run, and type msconfig and hit enter.

this will be a lengthy process, but click on startup tab and uncheck everything. and then reboot and see if this still happens.

If it stops locking up then you just need to start the process of checking each one until you find the program that is causing your problem. you will need to check a box, apply and then reboot. Use google to research items before you check the box and reboot so you can tell what they are and if you need it running at system startup. Antivirus would be a good start to turn back on first!

Good Luck.

Load in safe mode with networking, download MALWAREBYTES freeware at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
, MAKE SURE, IN THE INSTALL, TO UNCHECK THE PRO TRIAL VERSION, You want the freeware. Run a FULL SCAN, depending on the size of your HDD it could take hours. DELETE ALL RESULTS. ALSO, Download CCLEANER free at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ If you don't have this program, it will remove the junk from your system. In TOOLS, STARTUP, disable all startup programs that are unnessary at startup. ALSO Run your UP-TO-DATE AntiVirus full scan, when finished, reboot. Respond to post for further assistance.

Hi i just bought a acer aspire 5100 laptop from a family member who no longer needed it... i turned it on and the touch pad was working fine. when i clicked on word pad the program poped up and i went to...

Seen this before and the only solution that seemed to work was to log on (use a usb mouse) and create a new admin account in users, Log off and log back on with the new account... worked for me and i then downloaded fresh touchpad drivers. , copied the files from the old account to the new one

My pc stoped after 30 min

Hello,

Dual Channel supported up to 4GB DDR2 533/667 MHZ [XP will only see 3 GB x86 / 32bit]

Freezing is most likely caused by a faulty hard drive, or faulty RAM. I would test both for faults.

Acer Aspire One D250-1042 shows desktop wallpaper but won't load

Start by logging on as the Administrator so you can check the Task Manager and find out what Application or Process is monopolizing the system.

If the system is still unresponsive boot into Safe Mode. (Press F8 before the Windows startup screen appears.) If everything is fine in Safe Mode type MSCONFIG at the Command Prompt and start disabling features until you find the culprit.

Last resort, buy or borrow an external USB CD/DVD drive and use it to reinstall Windows.

Important: Reinstalling will ERASE the hard drive.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Computer problems.

You want to start the laptops in "safe mode" When its up and running, run the anti-virus program and see what comes up.

Desktop theme changes at startup

That's not supposed to be a problem... When you log in to your account windows loads your personal settings, as well as other programs, so it's supposed to take time. Windows probably has the theme set on default so it would show that while your settings are loading. That or you've got a virus... But... if you think your computer is unusually slow then that's a different problem. Try cleaning up your hard disk space and doing other sorts of stuff, like scanning for viruses to make it run faster.

Acer Aspire 5102WLMi,Mouse&Keyboard&USB is gone :( Hi, My Laptop had a problems with booting (didn't recognize the hard drive) but after many restarts it was booting pretty well; However sometimes when I am working on Windows XP the hard drive was acting like suddenly disconnected, it was resulting disk write errors or blue screen; It was not so bad,but sometimes it was happening. Later, after a Blue Screen, it booted but the keyboard and the trackpad was not working; The USB ports also weren't working since I've connected external USB keyboard and mouse but they did not respond either. After I noticed that the keyboard don't work at all since I can't enther the BIOS configuration; It continued to boot SOMETIMES but the keyboard worked only for few seconds that I've been able to enter the BIOS(also only SOMETIMES). Since my warranty is over, I gave it to a repair shop and they told me that the ATI chipset is gone and they don't have any to replace it; I find it on eBay and I hope it will arrive tomorrow. However I noticed another strange thing: if I hit the laptops case in certain place(right to the trackpad) the laptop power off;It also power off if it is rised up quickly enough. Because of my curiosity I disassembled the laptop to see if there is anything that could cause a such problem I noticed that the South Bridge chipset is heating enough to burn my hand in only 2-3 seconds and don't have anything to cool it; Could this be a symptome of a problem with the south bridge? If you have any ideas or suggestions on the problem please write;
