The infrared typically can not be used for a wireless connection unless it were through a cell phone, otherwise you could purchase a wireless PCMCIA PC card or a usb wireless adapter.

How enable wifi on gateway laptops

The Fn+F2 should enable the wireless. If you don't have wireless enable after all, reinstall the drivers of your wireless card. You can download it from here:

Scroll down the page until you see wireless, and download the driver.

Wireless switch on model solo 5300

Hi. Not enough information. Do you want a switch? Do you need to FIND a switch? Is it a Gateway notebook?
The specifications for the Gateway Solo 5300 do not indicate a wireless system as part of the original unit.
See:
http://support.gateway.com/s/manlib/Notebooks/Solo5300/8508144/8508144.htm

Most units with PC100 memory (like this one) did not come with wireless. You will likely need a wireless PCMCIA card.

Need to set up wireless for toshiba A105-S-4034

If you have installed the AT&T software, you should be able to use that application to connect to the Internet. Are you using a USB gateway or do you have a stand-alone gateway?

If you have the USB type, install the software first and then connect the USB gateway, Click on the software app to start the Internet connection. AT&T info will show a tab for GSx and one for Wireless. As long as you have a subscription, I would use the GSx tab, otherwise, select the wireless tab and connect to your gateway or any other wireless router that you have access to. Good Luck.

Wireless

1) A working WiFi adapter, USB or PCMCIA.
2) A Wireless signal to connect to.

Windows already has built in WiFi software.
