Question about Lexmark X2690 All-In-One InkJet Printer
My understanding is you can refill Lexmark #4A black & #5A color ink cartridges and they will work in your printer after they are refilled? Does anyone know if after you refill them, will they work in a Lexmark X2690 printer? I would like to know before I go out and purchase them.
The solution to this problem is to BOYCOTT LEXMARK. The quality of their printers is inferior to others such as Canon and HP and Lexmark ink is by far the most expensive of any printer I have owned. They are trying to eliminate refilling by the circuitry in the cartridge so they can resell the used high priced cartridge again.

I had both a number 4 and number 5 cardridge refilled, and neither was recognized nor worked in my X4690 printer. I've gone ahead and started buying cartridges directly from Lexmark. They give you one free cartridge when you set up your account, then one free one for every 5 empty cartridges that you return to them.

I had the same problem after refilling the Lexmark #4 black cartridge with a Universal ink kit from Walgreens. They could not refill it on their machines. I also went to Cartridge World and Office Max and they gave me the same answer. Apparently, these newer printers have a switch in the printer for number of copies printed. You just need to buy a new print cartridge each time. The other option is to use Lexmark's cartridge return program or buy another printer with refillable cartridges.

You will get people that will tell you, yes. However, my answer is, don't do it. My printer quit working after I used refilled cartridges & if you take a look around on this site you will see that A LOT of people have had the same problem. My advice, the savings just is not worth it. Good luck.
