Well at first the colors on my xbox got bad then the picture got like blury then now wehn i try to turn it on i hear the fan and the lights are GREEN but the tv says mode not supported even though it is the right mode and now it wont even turn on. i took it to Game Stop and they said it was classic red eye effect? amd will microsoft like replace it or wat??? :-/
I think by red eye, they were talking about the red lights that sometimes flash. If you have 3 red flashing lights, u can send it in to get replaced for free, but if there is 0, 1, or 2 red lights you will have to pay to fix it. This is usually just an unregistered e74 or 0102 error. If you fix it yourself, then try Team Hybrid's Ultimate X-clamp Fix and it should fix that problem for you. Re: Wat is a red eye effect?
I've heard this before. this is pertaining to the main board. this starts off as a video card melt down then your main processors gos and then the power board fails. this is a factory flaw in its design and should be replaceable by Microsoft for free. i would exercise the warranty if possible. don't really know why they call it the red eye effect but, we call it here in the shop total meltdown.

Don't try the towel trick!!!! It will damage the Xbox even more.
The problem is caused by a bad design flaw in the heat sinks X-clamps. when the motherboard warms up it pulls the connections away from the GPU (graphics processing unit). This is your problem at the moment.
What you need to do is force the Xbot to overheat.
Get a couple of cue tips (cotton buds) and remove the cotton from each end and then bend them at one end making a large L shape.
Remove the AV lead, hard drive and any ethernet or wireless box from the Xbox and make sure its turned off. Lay the Xbox on its side (flat) and look behind the Xbox where the air vents are. If you look close enough you will see two fans (you made a torch to see them correctly) Insert a cue tip between the fan blades of both fans to stop them rotating.
Turn the Xbox on and leave it on for around 5-7 minutes watch the power button on the Xbox until you see just 2 red flashing lights. This means it has overheated. When you see the 2 red lights remove power and leave the Xbox to cool down for about half an hour.
Connect the AV lead and all other things like the hard drive etc and power it up.
You should now have a working Xbox but there is a chance it will do it again. If it does you will need to modify the X-claps.
My recommendation to you is when you play the Xbox leave it layed on its side.
ur xbox 360 is in high def turn ur xox 360 with ur controller and hold r trigger and y button together till it turns on. if it dont work than u got the rings of death try this there are fans in the back of ur xbox 360 put a straw on each to stop the fans from spinning wait till it has two red lights than disconected from the back and wait 20 minutes and try it see if it work. if it work this is just a temperary fix.
Talk with microsoft and give him a description of your problem. It sounds like the main board is bad but dont quote me on that. You have a one year warrenty on damages like that to your xbox so give them a call and let then know of your situations.
