Hello janice_dave
Pull the Maytag Neptune TL FAV6800A/FAV9800A the Service Manual from this site;
FAV6800A/9800A Service Manual
What errors are you taking? I will assume dc/UC in spin cycle. “Spin cycle failing in the last 11 minutes of cycle. This Machine suffers from a chronic failure of the clutch not engaging the spinner shaft causing the tumblers to rotate in spin cycle which will cause dc/UC errors. I call this a soft failure because most times the clutch spring is intact and the clutch roller bearings dry with a hint of rust that can be cleaned up with WD-40. A hard failure would be broken clutch spring, roller bearings rusted beyond reasonable clean up.
Access the to the Clutch
Raise the top of the machine. Insert a flat blade putty knife approximately 2.5” from the left and right sides of the washer top, depress the spring tabs securing machine top to the washer base. Raise the top of the machine to observe the wash basket and tumbler action described in step 2. (See page 33 of the SM for putty knife insertion point).
Remove the front panel see page 41.
Clutch Removal.
Disconnect 120VAC power cord.
Tools required;
3/8 inch socket and socket wrench to remove clutch pulley bolt. Page 47 of the SM
5/16 nut driver or 5/16 ¼ socket on a extension to remove front panel. Page 41 of the SM.
An optional small bottle jack to help jack up the washer tub just enough for clearance to get the 3/8” socket wrench on the Clutch Pulley Bolt or a helper. It is a very tight wok area but you can do it without removing the tub. (See page 43 using block of wood to raise tub)
Here is the process I posted back on Dec 15, 08
I just did a repair on my FAV6800AAW by lubricating the needle bearings in the clutch pulley hub, the tub displacement sensor checked OK per the service manual check. I was getting dc/uc errors in the spin cycle, washer was purchased in 7/05. I have basic mechanical skills and used a socket wrench to remove clutch pulley hub, just follow the service manual removal steps to remove clutch pulley hub. Pull the plastic cover off the clutch pulley hub and inspect the spring, clean/lube needle bearings and the clutch hub coupler that drives spinner shaft. I used WD40 I may need to re-lube down the road with a good light grease. It took a few tries for me to get the clutch pulley hub to stay on after re-install and power up, getting the clutch pulley seated properly is the trick. I did not remove the washer tub for this fix, I believe I saw a posting where someone did. I just leaned the washer back to get a better reach angle, it is a tight work area. I did not want to junk 3.5 yr old $1k machine without trying a fix. If you want to work on this model get the service manual, I found it online and I believe you can order it in PDF format from Maytag. Good luck!
I just went thru my 10th load of a mix of light, medium and heavy loads and all work fine no unbalance errors (DC/UC). Doesn’t fix the tangle problem :) Prior to this fix I could only run the washer with no clothes in it to complete a cycle with no dc/uc error codes.

I’m now at 40+ loads of all sizes. My wife said we are way beyond that count.
Some folks that have used this process and met with success.

2010 seat ibiza 1.6 sport sort of growling noise sometimes stoes for like 2 sec,s then starts again and stops when clutch pressed in.

indications are a failing throw out bearing for the clutch or clutch plate getting worn out AS the clutch plate lining wears , the pressure plate fingers come back closer to the throw out bearing causing it to spin
if you can make an adjustment on the slave cylinder push rod or clutch cable to give the bearing a nit more clearance the noise may not be there as it will not be spinning from the pressure plate fingers

Clutch pedal wont move why?

Hi Joseph:
For the clutch pedal to move, the clutch has to dis-engage. I don't know what vehicle you're playing with, but if it's been sitting a long time it's possible that the clutch plate is stuck (rusted?) to the flywheel. Check out the linkage from the pedal through to the clutch. There may be grease fittings in hidden places, and the linkage may be seized with rust.
Last resort is to remove the cover from the bottom of the bell housing to get access to the clutch plate. You can either remove the clutch plate, or try (GENTLY) to pry the clutch plate away from the flywheel. Once unstuck, it should function.

Wont go into gear

this happens because the clutch plate is still spinning with the fly wheel. If you have just replaced the clutch it will be because the clutch plate is in the wrong way and the hub is hitting on the fly wheel bolts. If you haven't touched the clutch so far then you will have to check that the clutch slave cylinder is moving the throw out arm or if the pivot has broken off. IF that is ok then there is a case of the fly wheel and clutch plate contaminated with oil and sticking
together or lastly the lining of the clutch plate has become un secured (broken) and jamming on the flywheel/pressure plate. I am betting on the plate in the wrong way round.

Change clutch

If you're just replacing the clutch plates. Remove the outer primary cover after draining the fluid out. collapse the clutch cable . loosen the 11/16 lock nut on the clutch. remove the 10 mm bolts that hold the carrier. remove the carrier and the plates. Remember to soak the plates before installing them. They say you should soak them for 15-30 min. but i generally soak them for at minimum an hour. install the plates as they came out. Install the carrier plate. install the 10 mm bolts. adjust the lock nut to 1/2 turn out from lightly seated. The allen is a 7/32. Install the outer primary cover. Fill with fluid til it's just over the bottom of the plates. Adjust the clutch cable so that you have the thickness of a quarter at the perch. There you go.

Transmission wont engaged when mashing the clutch

Sometime this can be a sign of a bad clutch plate. This happens when you are pushing in the clutch, but the wheel that locks the clutch into the next gear just keep spinning.

How to replace a clutch in my honda goldwing gl1000

First of all make sure you need a clutch. If the clutch only slips for an instant when you let out the lever. You may only need a cable. You may be able to remove the clutch cover at the back of the motor(very very limited space). Unbolt the springs and remove the plates. It can be done on the 1100, with out unbolting the motor and spinning it for access. If there is enough room it would certainly save the time of removing carbs,radiator,left frame section, unbolting and spinning the motor to get better access.

Kawasaki ninja zx9r clutch problem

On your bike there are two clutch parts that can wear and cause this problem. The broken spring should be replaced but is not causing the problem. Check the bottom of the clutch release shaft #13102. The end of the shaft may be broken, bent or severely worn. The part the shaft engages with is the clutch rod #46102. It could be bent, broken or severely worn. This part is inside the clutch hub. Just remove the five springs and then the outer cover plate and the rod should be accessible.

Maytag Neptune Tl washer

Mike, Sorry to hear that, is there any water around the clutch pulley?  With the front panel removed and you put the washer in a Spin Only cycle with no clothes in the wash basket.  View the Clutch pulley turning CCW and see if is turning true with no wobble? Mine spun off twice before I got it seated properly, and it was in wobble mode until I got it seated properly.   With the water leak issue maybe you can view with the front panel off and a partial fill the leak source. You can always do a quick tub pump out in service mode. As you know unplug the 120VAC to the machine before you poke around in there.  Do you still have the original clutch?  Did you remove the plastic cover and inspect the roller bearings, clutch spring and coupler? Good luck and let’s see what you find. Rich
