Try if an external keyboard works. if another keyboard works, you have to call acer to ask how you can go about replaceing the keyboard.

SOURCE: system recovery disk used and not key board does not work

If the keyboard is USB it will not pick up till the OS fully loads. If there is a PS2 port try a PS2 keyboard .plug the keyboard in first then turn on the computer. Check back if this does't help.

SOURCE: I don't have the recovery disk. How can I recover

you can use another vista disk (can you borrow someones?) and have it in when you turn it on. press 'any key' when asked to, load up windows setup and then when it has finished loading choose repair/diagnose and select your copy of windows. You get an option in here to detect and repair starup problems, you can also use this to install a fresh copy of windows if that doesnt fix your problem, be careful not to install over the top of what you have already if you dont want to loose things.

you need to bear in mind that you need to have a CD key for the version of windows that you are installing, the vista home premium key on the bottom of your laptop is no good if you have borrowed a home premium CD for example, you dont need a key to run the diag tools though

None of the Fkeys work when i push them. And yes the laptop is turned on.

The F keys only work when the Fn key is pressed at the same time. If they still don't work, check the system board drivers are installed and loaded.
F8 at start up is not a Function key.

How to Recover Data From a Disk Encrypted by Bitlocker. Data Recovery.

Today we will describe the procedure of data recovery from a damaged disk encrypted by Bitlocker. Such problem may emerge as a result of damage to the file system of an encrypted disk (for example, damage to the area of the hard disk, where BitLocker stores important data, that happens due to unexpected system shutdown), inability to load OS or BitLocker recovery console, and other similar errors that prevent normal opening of the encrypted disk. The described problems may affect both system disk, portable external drive or USB drive.

In order to recover data we will use the utility Repair-bde (BitLocker Repair Tool), a command prompt utility which appeared back in Windows 7 / 2008 R2. This utility is used for access and recovery of encrypted data in a damaged disk encrypted by BitLocker.
Warning. This procedure should be applied after all the others have failed, and it was impossible to unlock the encrypted disk in a standard way by using a Bitlocker password or recovery key.

Requirements for data recovery from a BitLocker volume

To recover data from a disk encrypted by BitLocker you need to have at least one of the following Bitlocker defense elements:
  • BitLocker recovery password;
  • Recovery key;
  • System startup key (Startup key - .bek).
Data will be recovered to a separate disk the size of which should be no less than the size of the damaged disk. In the course of recovery, all contents of this disk will be deleted and replaced by decrypted data from the Bitlocker volume.
In our example, disk E: (size 2 Gb) is a USB drive the contents of which are encrypted by BitLocker, and which cannot be opened for some reason. To recover data, we have installed an additional external disk F: (size 16 Gb).

Method 1. Data recovery with the use of a BitLocker password

In the first place, try recovering data with this method (it will work with Windows 8 / 2012 and newer versions):
  • Launch command prompt as administrator.
  • Execute the command:
    repair-bde E: F: -pw -Force
where E: - disk with Bitlocker data, F: - disk where decrypted data should be extracted.
  • In the course of executing the command you will have to specify BitLocker password (the same which a user is to enter into UI when trying to access an encrypted volume).

Method 2. Decryption of a Bitlocker volume with a recovery key

For decryption of data located in a damaged volume which is encrypted with Bitlocker we will need a recovery key or a system startup key (if the system partition is encrypted).
Advice. BitLockerRecoveryKey is a unique sequence of 48 symbols. The recovery key is generated when a Bitlocker volume is created; it can be printed, saved as a text file to a local (this choice is not recommended) or external disk, or in a user account at Microsoft website.

http://www.fixya.comwrite_tip-wyytcj10vubwvpdmj0eoj2yx-1-0.png

Now let us launch data recovery with the help of this key:
repair-bde E: F: -rp 011407-712393-682121-100210-377003-405174-520014-328130 -Force
If Bitlocker is used for encryption of the system partition containing Windows, and for loading the system a special startup key on a USB drive is used, the encrypted volume can be decrypted as follows:
repair-bde E: F: -rk I:\3F558473-943D-4330-8449-62C36BA53345.BEK -Force
where file 3F558473-943D-4330-8449-62C36BA53345.BEK is a key to launch BitLocker disk encryption on a USB drive G: (by default, this file is hidden).
After the procedure of data recovery and decryption, before opening the disk where the contents of the Bitlocker volume were extracted, it is necessary to run its check. In order to do it, execute the following command and wait until it is complete:
Chkdsk F: /f
Important note. If you failed to recover data from an encrypted disk with the described methods, it is worth trying to create a sector-by-sector copy of the damaged disk with the help of a Linux utility DDRescue (or any other similar utility). After that, try recovering data from the received copy by the following scenario.

Data Recovery Software

We also should notice that exist more common and simpler way to recover files from Bitlocker encrypted storage. These are data recovery software. Of course, not all programs ?an cope in such situation but some of them have required function.
The only thing is that you must have a password to unlock the device which was specified when encrypt.
Then it's simple. Connecting device with the information that you want to recover to your computer and getting message.
Further, enter password in a special window after double-clicking on the device you need to recover in "This PC".
After that, the storage becomes fully accessible for data recovery for any of the Hetman Software programs.

Two seperate issues. You can order new disks on ebay for example but if your product key is unreadable you need to purchase a new key.
See this link to buy - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Windows-Home-Premium-inkl/dp/B008OT79T4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1426423337&sr=8-2&keywords=windows+7+coa

Acer system repair disks

Are you using a Repair Disk or a Recovery Disk. It's known to crash with Recovery Disks, but most times a Repair Disk works.

If you were using a Recovery Disk then you've probably already wiped out your operating system, so you might as well just reinstall a fresh copy of windows.

Look at your Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker that is affixed to the laptop either on the bottom or in the battery case. It will tell you what version of windows you have and the Product Key Code (a series of 5 letters and numbers). Borrow that same version of windows from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and reinstall windows. It has to be the same version as your COA Sticker or you will have problems activating it.

Make sure you get the product key code from the person you borrowed the disk from because sometimes the system will take the Product Key Code that is on your laptop and sometimes it wants the Product Key Code from the installation disk.

Product key e machines model EL 1200

Hi,

You do not need any product key to install Operating System in Emachines as it uses OEM versions of OS. If you have Recovery Disk you can use it.

The recovery disk consist of 2 DVD, the first is the System Disk (this is first disk to insert), once finished loading, it will ask to insert the second CD (Application and Drivers disk), if in case both are not working, then follow the below mentioned steps:

You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

You can also place order for a set of Recovery disk by calling Acer Technical support at 1 800 816 2237

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

I need a recovery disk for my Compaq Presario SR2020NX XP media Center 2005. I got a virus and the only way to restore my desktop is to insert a "recovery disk". Do you by chance have one I can...

The Compaq SR2020NX has an on-board system recovery tool that can be used to create recovery disks. Unfortunately, on many of these models it was not clearly stated that it was the user's responsibility to create recovery disks, so many people did not do so.

You might be able to launch the onboard system recovery by tapping the F11 key when the computer is starting up. Some of the HP/Compaq models from this time frame allowed that option, but not all of them.

If the F11 key does not work, you will need to purchase a recovery disk set. HP/Compaq no longer sells them for this model, but I did find a link for a place where one can be purchased, which appears to be legitimate. http://www.hpandcompaq.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_images.tpl&product_id=4899&category_id=2&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2&vmcchk=1&Itemid=2

Good luck, and hope this is helpful!

Factory reset for Aspire one without disk and alt + F10 doesnt work

The disk-to-disk recovery may be disabled preventing the Alt + F10 key sequence running eRecovery. To enable disk-to-disk recovery, you must do the following... (do not have an external monitor attached)
1. activate the BIOS utility by pressing F2 during Power On System Test (while Acer logo displayed)
2. select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen
3. find D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use F5 and F6 keys to set this value to Enabled
4. exit the BIOS utility and save changes.
The system will reboot.
5. while the Acer logo is showing, press the Alt key and the F10 key at the same time repeatedly
6. wait as Acer eRecovery starts up then follow onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.

Alternatively to the above, if Windows can be accessed, the recovery can be done by launching Acer eRecovery Management by running the program from the Acer Empowering Technology program group in the Start menu.

After reinstallion, no emachines recovery/original programs/apps

Your recovery software is usually comprised of more than one disk. You should have one windows disk in addition to the eMachines disk(s). Complete recovery requires that you use all the disks, in order to return to original state. If you are missing programs, it is because you did not use all the disks.

Option A: Go here to order a complete set of recovery disks:

https://secure.tx.acer.com/RCDB/Main.aspx?brand=emachines

You will need your machine serial number to ensure you obtain the correct recovery disks; they are about 20$ plus shipping.

Option B: Use your eRecovery: Restart the computer and when it begins booting up, you have to hit repeatedly/hold down a key to enter the Recovery management menu. As for the key, it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but try the F10 key for starters. If it's not that one, try the F12, or the F8 key. That should get you pointed in the right direction. Just follow the screen prompts, and choose RECOVERY, not RESTORE. Also make sure you choose Recovery without disks.

Reply if you need more help.

Hope this helps.

System recovery disk used and not key board does not work

For that matter, when reinstalling your windows xp, you have to Delete the partition and format it. Sometimes when your system has viruses and if you just recover or repairing it using your OS installer won't work out because it cannot delete the virus. So you really have to delete the partition and reformat it again. When done, install updated full version antiviruses like avg 8 or avast. They really protect your computer.

Best regards
