Question about HP Audigy SB023 Sound Card

1 Answer

I have no sound.

I installed a new power supply and now I have no sound. I reinstall the drivers and still does not work. I have a Creative Labs model number SB0230. I'm wondering if I may have forgotten to hook up a cable. Right now the only cable that is hooked up to it is going to a connector labled SB1394. Of course I also have the cable going to the speaker plugged in. Maybe I wipe the card out with static?

I had a cable going to the connector labled SB1394 on the sound card. Is it posible that hooking up a cable there that I may have damaged the card? The cable appears to fit there but after checking it out again I notice the other end of the cable goes to the USB board.

SB 1394 is a communication plug .Was it unplugged? Most of the time is is not used. Its there another plug that looks just like it? Maybe the cable  should go to the other one?

If I were you I would shut down the computer, completely remove the card from the computer, reboot. Make sure you go into the device manager and look and see that everything about the soundcard is removed from there as well..

Turn the machine off and reinstall the sound card, Verify all your connections, and then turn it back on and let windows re-detect and install your drivers as needed.

You do not have to hook up that cable you have been talking about, it is not needed. Just make sure your speakers are plugged in to the right speaker output jack on the back of the soundblaster card.

Let me know if this resolves your problem. and please rate if it does. Thanks.

Hello this is the only trusted page i could find:

http://www.nodevice.com/driver/company/Creative-Labs/SOUND.html

Try finding the driver by the model number.

When you find the driver you have to enter a code for downloading the driver.

Here is maybe not drivers for windows 7 and vista. Only for xp.

You can try the creative support site:

http://support.creative.com/Products/product_list.aspx?catID=1&CatName=Sound+Blaster

By selecting the model.
But i don`t think you can find the driver because they do not support older products anymore.

The alternative is to buy a new souncard if you run a new windows system.

Good luck
