Both numbers were correct. I even tried changing the 12 to a 10 just to see what would happen and nothing did. So I set it beck. I even tried deleting the driver and re-installing an updated one from hp.

You possiblely have a font set wrong in your printer. Push the green check button, arrow down to printing, push the check button again, arrow down to PCL and push the green check button again. Arrow down to Font Source, push check button again and check setting, should be internal. Push the left arrow button till you get back to Font Source and down arrow key to Font Number, all ours are set to 3. Left arrow key back to Font Number and down arrow again to Font Point Size, all of ours are set to 12.00. To get back to ready, uset the left arrow key.
If this is all correct, then it has to be in your software.

What software are you using? Have you tried to print a config page from the printer? If you do and it prints ok, the problem is not in the printer.

The problem is in you software or operating system then. What software are you using? Is the printer hooked to a network, or stand alone pc. If it is connected to a network, does the samething happen for any othe pc on the network?

Do you have a laptop or a pc close to printer you could attach to the printer and test it local. I don't know much about server 2003. I work on the printers themselves. If it works local, the the problem is in the print server or network.

Printing is off center on the HP 6540. The image or page being printed is cut off on the right margin and on the bottem of the page.

ok, most likely your printer cartridges are off. In order to fix this, you can use windows to align them. Click start > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes, and right click the printer thats giving you trouble. Then go to properties. Next, go to the services tab, and click align the cartridges, and continue from there.

My HP Deskjet 3940 prints past both margins

If you are using Word or a similar word processing program, you can do this in Page Size and under the Margins tab. Even then, it won't translate to all your printing work.
You need to have the printer on, or at least able to see the little printer icon on the lower task-bar of your PC, by the time and all that. Click (or double click, depending on computer and OS), and select all available or active printers, I'm thinking it just one. Under the Printer menu, select options or settings, again depending on PC and printer, and there should be a Page Size tab,, where you can choose the format (portrait or landscape), font sizes and types, and scales. On the same window, there should be a margins tab where you can tweak the margins to do what you want them to do. Tell me if this was helpful, or if you run into any more issues.

Printing size and shifting to the right

Hi there check the print margins within MS Word goto

  1. File
  2. Page Setup
  3. Margins
And check that they are OK. if not check that you haven't got the wrong size paper set in word. Same as above but select Paper size then check in the printer driver that you have the correct paper size selected and that you haven't selected a strange margin.

Hope this works
Thanks J

Paper margin problem in pagemaker application

Do you mean the left margin is too large so all the content is shifted to the right and off the page? If this is the case, it is probably a setting in Pagemaker. In the file menu, choose "page setup" or "print setup". Check the paper size. Check the margins.
