Question about Canon PIXMA MP160 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

When I print something out there is a band of lines running through it. As I am a graphic design student I was printing out some matchbox covers with the Beatles Abby Road album as the cover. When I printed it out not only did the Beatles album cover have a pattern of lines running through it but so did the solid color on the other sides of the matchbox. I tried cleaning and aligning my printer but I still go the line pattern running through everything I was printing. How can I fix this?

Ghosting

Normally ghosting is caused by a bad fuser.
Put paper in the manual feed tray(tray 1)
Print something. As the paper gets 1/2 way into the printer, open the cover..
Look at the paper. If there is no ghosting, the fuser is bad. If there is ghosting, could be a cartridge drum.
Follow these steps print a Print quality troubleshooting page to identify which print cartridge is causing the issue.
  1. Open Toolbox .
  2. Click the Help folder, and then click the Troubleshooting page.
  3. Click Print , to print the page. The page prints five bands of color, which are divided into four overlapping sections. By examining each section, you can isolate the problem to a particular print cartridge. Figure 4: Print quality troubleshooting page bandsc01417618.gif 1 - Yellow 2 - Cyan 3 - Black 4 - Magenta

Hi Everytning I print has a very narrow pink line straight down the centre of the page, also every so often the print has a black/yellow/blue/pink thick line running across the page. Thanks

The narrow pink line is coming from your magenta toner/drum cartridge. You may be able to open the from cover and look at the 4 toners. If you look at the magenta (like pink) cartridge, you might see the thin line on the drum surface.
The multicolored band that sometimes shows up on your prints is most likely the transfer belt unit. This is caused by an area of the belt that is not being cleaned very well. This probably tends to show up when you are running mutilple prints of a page.
So it looks like to may need to replace your magenta toner and look at getting a transfer belt unit.

Canon MP980 prints horizontal pink lines across

try to change the color ink. horizontal banding (the pink or other color lines appearing means horizontal banding) when there is a problem on one of the heating element of the printer head. since almost all canon printers have head built in the inks, replacing the faulty ink will solve the problem. if not then the controller of printhead on the carriage and mainboard needs to be checked.

More information is needed. The repair is different for every operating system. However, you can go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2000007 and try "fix it for me". Follow the instructions on screen.

Canon Pixma iP90 - Jagged text and lines

The printer has a plastic band that runs from one side to the other. The print head has a sensor that passes over it each time it moves. The band is a little transparent and appears to have vertical lines in it. That needs to be cleaned.
  1. Remove power from the printer,
  2. Wipe it clean,
  3. Move the head manually to other side to clean the other areas.
Hope this helps.

Rimage Everest III printing quality issues

Hi Jay, do you have any idea how many discs have been printed with this Everest Printer?

Your issue sounds like a hardware error, not an issue with the software you are printing from. Most likely the printhead needs to be replaced, or the control board. Printhead replacement costs approx $1200.
