Question about Nvidia Apple Geforce4MX (64 MB) Graphic Card

1 Answer

Card only works with Windows generic drivers. NVidia's go crazy.

XP Pro, SP-3 system, Asus board. When using Nvidia's drivers, system goes crazy. Artifacts and random numbers are all over the screen, nothing lines up and the system is unstable and useless. Disable those drivers and system works, but no direct x or 3-D possible. Have downloaded latest drivers and nothing I have tried works. Substituted a different AGP card and system wouldn't even bootup. What to do?

Re-tried 93.7, which is listed in device mgr as ver. and restarted. Screen data is scrambled, specs of random color appear all over, screen goes black and hangs on log in window. Had to restart in Safe Mode to disable driver and get back to what is now normal. So this won't work. I should mention that graphics were operating perfectly with this driver when about a year ago the display began to go crazy.

I will later try the other mentioned driver, after I recover from this very traumatic experience.

System worked perfectly until last year when screen began showing words with scrambled spelling and out of order, color pixels randomly all over the place and generally an inoperable system. When I disabled driver system works but without Direct X and 3D. Board is Asus P4S333, card is Nvidia GeForce 2 mx/mx400 and system does work ok, but without 3D available.

When I substituted a proper new Nvidia AGP card (don't remember which one), the system would not boot, there were NO BEEPs, nothing would happen. Reinstalled old card after cleaning all contacts and system functions, as above. Had the new card tested and it worked. I gave it away.

Is this the driver you downloaded?
if not try that one.
if indeed that is the one you tried then try this one instead.
although this is a beta driver it might work.
those are the only 2 drivers i can find for this series on windows xp.
you could also try re-installing direct-x.

there is also another thing you can try. maybe the video memory is'nt working like it should. you could try google for any video memory testing program. i know i use PCcheck for those kind of things but i dont remember if its free or not. good luck.

HP a350n code 10 error Nvidia MX440 Video adapter.

First you MUST install Service Pack Two. That "device cannot start", it simply means that the "Drivers" will NOT load... but this is really of NO consequence, IF the "Generic" Windows Drivers work, then this is just as good, and in some case better than any other driver, PLUS they WORK. Have you downloaded the latest NVIDIA Drivers? Also you may have to install the entire Drivers Package and not just the "Drivers" alone. That NVIDIA card is an "Older" card, you may indeed be better off with a new more modern card, now NVIDIA, is OK, but I personally like ATI better.

Most like the sound card you have is not compatible with Windows Vista. You need to check the manufacturers website to see if there is any patch for Windows Vista

Created as a process on disk

This file I believe it is from GameGuard, Nprotect.
