Does anyone have manual for cleaning and repair the ricoh ft4022 copier. Ours is old and copies have large areas on the edges that are black streaks. Years ago when it was under maintenance, they would come and clean the machine good to improve. I'm not sure how to take the glass of top, etc that they normally did.
Most likely you are beyond cleaning. Sounds like either your fuser, or drum is causing problems, and even if it is simply optical, there are a few different service mode adjustments that need to be performed after cleaning to correct the image density, which are too complicated to explain here. There must be a local service company that will help you out on this one. I myself, still work on a few of these machines, and although they are old, they are still worth putting a few dolaars into if it is serving your needs. They were/are an excellent model. Sorry I can't really give you any direction, other than to advise you that you'll be needing a tech to get it working properly.

Providing that the thermistors are good and they have been installed correctly, here the reset procedure that is done through operation panel: press "Clear Modes" botton, then 107,then press and hold the "Stop" key for 3-5 seconds until you see the screen has changed. After that you need to turn the main power swith off and back on.The error code should be reset at this point. If it comes back, you may have a bad fusing lamp or a bad connector.
It can be some of this because you give us only the firs digit you should press "." for to see the two other digits which can be as follow:
E620 Main board – ARDF communication error
E621 Main board – Sorter communication error
E623 Main board – Paper tray unit communication error
For start you can see do the sorter or the ADF are good connected It has two cables one is white and other is black see do they are good connected or it can be broken on some place of the cable, special the black because is optical cable. also see do the paper tray is good entered in the machine if all this up mentioned are good then is a problem with the main board
Dirt on the narrow glass will cause streaks through the Auto feeder, but copies should be clean if using the main contact glass if that's the case. Dirt/toner anywhere else (ie:laser optics) would cause light areas on the copies- not dark. Did this happen the very first time you used it, or shortly after? In other words, could it be coincidental? It sounds more to me, like the PCU (photoconductor/drum unit) needs replacement, or a fuser roller. If cleaning the glass doesn't help, then one of these 2 things is causing your problem.
It probably has several issues - optics dirty, and drum, and blade failing. I would also imagine that even the Solid "blacks" aren't as black as they could be, and that would be the developer. This machine is in the 17 year old range, and I wouldn't spend dime on it
