tv about 3yrs old , no bulb has yet to be replaced , i have noticed on the right side of the front of the tv to be a little darker (first 3 inches of the right side of tv)when looking at the back of the tv , the light that reflects out doesnt appear to be an even light (looks weak on one side ) how many bulbs are with this tv hl-s6187w samsung

if its a cooling issue , could it be dusty and clogged ? or do they just wear out ? also is this something that is easily fixed ? or do I need to bring someone in ?

its most likely to be transformer issue, its getting heatted up due to which the tv turns off after while.

It is prob caused by a bulb. how long is it since you have relaced it? if you are looking at more than 12 mths? if so then it is usually a safe option that it needs changing. also if you have recentley changed the bulb then you will have to reset the bulb timer which on some models can also turn system off for safety reasons. hope this helps

hi sorry i should have been more specific. if you go onto the menu option if that is your screen stays on long enough and look for setup options as there will be an option within that counts how many hours the bulb has been working for. if you find this then you can reset it and find out if this is the only problem but im saying that if its been over two years like you say since the last change then you will almost definitley need an new one although i admit that as one of the above solutions suggesting cleaning it will not do no harm due to static. if the counter does nothing or you cant see screen image due to prob then you should look at the unit for exernal out socket and plug into secondary screen as they all have the ability to show duel screens through usually rgb connetion white red and yellow connections.

It is a cooling fan issue as when it heats up, the fan cannot cool it down. Hence to protect itself from causing any damage, it turns off.

Cooling fans wearout when there is a dust factor involved. In my experience, 90% of these fans wearout due to the dust or lint.

It is DLP TV and have one bulb inside. You can replace it by yourself and Bulb (lamp) is available in Part Store.

Your Tv is not old fashioned rear projection TV that has 3 picture tubes at rear. It is like multimedia projector, 3 LCD to make an image and use Lamp as light source. It calls..DLP TV

Regarding fan issue, if fan is defective then TV will work for little time until it got high temperature and then goes to standby.
If lamp is weak or dead, TV will not boot up or show any screen and immediately goes to standby.
