Problem with serial microsoft intellimous

By Bray - usenet poster

I am new to linux.
I have just installed RedHat 7.2 on my computer. Everything works fine but
the mouse.
During the installation the mouse works perfectly but after the reboot it is
freezed. I have tried two or three choices for the mouse during the
installation but uncessfully up to now.
Can somebody help me.
Thanks

Thanks a lot for your answer.

I am totaly new to linux so I succeded only for the two first parts or your
help.

I deleted the file mouse and type the new one by cat
Then I linked.

My problem is now that I don't know what editor use to modify the file
XF86Config-4.

This file is too big to be typed with cat.

Thanks.

JMR napis??(a) :

For properly gpm work, edit /etc/sysconfig/mouse :

MOUSETYPE="ms3"
XMOUSETYPE="IntelliMouse"
XEMU3=no
DEVICE=/dev/mouse

/dev/mouse must link to your port with mouse, i.e. for com1:
ln -s /dev/ttyS0 /dev/mouse

Next edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 i.e.:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IntelliMouse"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSection

Next restart gpm and X.

1. What kind of mouse you have, ps/2 or serial?
2. Where mouse did't work, under X or console?
