    Hi:

Make sure that the pitch selector on the typewriter matches the pitch of the printwheel you are using.

How can I get my typewriter back to its intial settings

There is no keystroke pattern to reset the EM series typewriter. There are two methods to reset this typewriter.
1.You can reset the daisywheel and remain on the same line of type, simply lift the top cover and then close it back down. The carrier will move to the left, reset the daisywheel and return to the last space typed.
NOTE: This will not affect the format settings (bold, underline, etc)
2.If you want to abandon the current typing position; turn off the typewriter, wait 10 seconds for the power supply to reset and then turn the typewriter back on. The typewriter will reset and the carrier will return to the beginning of the current line.
NOTE: Turning off the power will restore the format settings to standard default settings (bold, underline, etc).

WE CHANGED THE DAISY WHEEL IN OUR MACHINE & WHEN YOU TYPE IT JUMPS SPACES & TYPES THE WRONG LETTERS

First, be sure you are using a Brother compatible daisywheel. Some other manufactures' daisywheels "look" the same but the charters are in different order, so they will not function properly.

After changing the daisywheel you need to d a reset. Hold down CODE and press "Q" the carriage will do a little dance and your machine should be good to go!

EM-530 - suddenly the "j"

First, be sure you are using a Brother compatible daisywheel. Some other manufactures' daisywheels "look" the same but the charters are in different order, so they will not function properly.

If you have not changed the daisywheel, the next thing to check is that the wheel is correctly installed. The easiest way to check it is to remove and reinstall it. To do that;

1. Open the top cover.

2. On the right side of the hammer (the metal piece that strikes the daisywheel) there is a small lever (see attached figure). Pull that locking lever towards you to release it.

3. Remove the cassette that holds the daisywheel.

4. Reinstall it, making sure that you lock the lever towards the paper roller.

5. When you close the top cover the carriage (otherwise known as the print head) will move to one side and do a procedure known as "Homing."

6. Test the machine. If it is still mistyping, continue with the next part. Continued in part 2

Types funny symbols instead of the number I

The typewriter will print the incorrect letter, or the face of the hammer if it does not spin properly to the correct position. 1. Turn the machine offf for 15 seconds and turn ON, or Depress MODE RESET(the Q key). This will rehome the Daisywheel.I If it prints correctly for awhile then looses its' position, check for ribbon or correction tape interference with Daisywheel movement. If it does not print correctly as soon as you start typing, remove the Daisywheel and inspect the spokes to see if any are bent. Reinstall the Daisywheel and power ON. If the Daisywheel has a bent spoke or two, you can try to straighten them, howvever the cause of bent spokes is a concern. While typing, carefully watch the print hammer movement. It should always return to the same position and not move towards the paper until a letter is pressed. If it does not come to rest properly, the hammer is not in proper timing and may enter the Daisywheel while it is spinning to the character, thus causing damage to the Daisywheel or causing it to lose homing. .The hammer cams would require adjustment ore replacement. If bent spokes is a persistent problem, make sure to get the hammer problem repaired before buying a new daisywhel.

How do i type a percent sign O/O

The keyboard of the typewriter differs from country to country to adjust to special characters used in its language.
In the standard US keyboard the percent sign is in number 5 key. To insert the percent symbol you would use right or left [SHIFT] + number 5 key , provided you are using the standard daisywheel,

Brother GX-6750 wrong characters problem.

Hi!

You are right. It seems that your daisywheel needs resetting. To reset it hold down the "CODE" key, while holding press the Reset key "Q" and then release.

If the wrong characters continue printing, change to a new daisywheel.
