I have a brand new Canon MX310 printer and it was working just fine. Just installed it today. I noticed that to many papers were about to feed into the back...so I pulled them out to stop it from going through. I have turned off the printer and back on again but it won't reset. Please help!

Re: Alarm won't reset
To reset you can't just turn it off & on normally. You have to unplug the unit for a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on manufacturer, then plug the unit back in and turn it on. This usually will reset the unit. Hope this helps.

press the Stop/Reset button for at least 5 seconds with the ink cartridge installed. Then printing can continue under the ink out condition.Canon do not like you to use refills and generic carts so the function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled
You may need a new cartridge, that error says the ink cartridge is wrong or not installed properly. If it's a refilled cartridge it won't work, if it's a new canon cartridge, they warranty for 30 days from date of purchase.
Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by
holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the
paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling
out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do
this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any
obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or
ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the
printer back on.
If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.

button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the
printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.
Did you replace the Black ink cartridge or the Color cartridge, or did you replace both?
Facing the front of the Canon Pixma MX310, did you install the Black ink cartridge to the left side, and the Color cartridge to the right side?
Do Not reverse how the ink cartridges go. Do Not install a Black ink cartridge, in the Color cartridge holder.
If the Alarm light came on, check to see if you have an error message in the LCD. (Not trying to insult your intelligence. The LCD is the little rectangular Liquid Crystal Display on your Pixma MX310 Operation Panel, to the left of the numeric buttons)
Do you have the Pixma MX310 On-screen manual? Start>Hover on All Programs>Canon>Pixma MX310>On-screen manual
Click on the Troubleshooting heading. If you have an error message code, click on the heading -> An Error Message is Displayed on the LCD.
Also suggest you click on the heading -> Problems Sending Faxes.

Could have a corrupt driver. Disconnect
the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do
both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer
to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

disconnect it again for sometime.also try to remove the cartridges from the printer if possible.and take out the power wire of the printers back for sometime.also remove if any computer wire connected to the back of the printer and then slowly ---slowly connect every thing back and check out.it should work.as the printer is new and the alarm light also bliks if the internal parts gets misallighned or blocked internally.if such problems get it replaced.
Does anyone have a solution to this? I'm also running into the same problem while installing the brand new printer. All I've done so far is plug in the line cable into the L slot, plug the power cord and pressed the ON/OFF button. The power button and the alarm lamp lights up one after the other and the message "Check Printer" and 5100 are displayed on the LCD.
I hope someone can give some tips. Thanks in advance!
