Contact your ISP. Depending on what you have, cable or DSL, there are sometimes issues with moving from one location to another. My brother attempted to move our DSL modem from one room to another and thought it would work but for whatever reason, it didn't and Verizon had to come move it back to get it to work correctly again.

Your ISP might simply have to update something on their end to recognize the new location. When you say "they had me change some settings", who are you referring to and what did they have you change?

When you say you "moved everything", do you mean you moved your setup to a different location in your residence or you moved residence?

Who is your Internet Service Provider?
And What is name of the modem that you were using?

  • Anonymous Mar 09, 2009

    Try this:
    - Connect your computer to any LAN port of the DI-604 router
    Note:
Do not plug yet your modem to the router
    - Open a browser to your computer and type in 192.168.0.1
    - It will prompted you username and password box.
    - Use admin for username and hit Ok without password
    - Go to Home tab and select LAN at your left side
    - You could see there the router's IP Address of 192.168.0.1
    - Change the 0 to 2 and that would be 192.168.2.1 and click on Apply at the bottom
    - Wait for about a minute to take effect the setting
    - After a minute more you may connect the modem to the WAN port of the router,
    - And after try to see if could get online
    - Good luck!!!

I have a D-link (Broadband VPN Router) that I want to hook up but I don't have the software. Is it possible to get free software downloads? The model #: DI-804HV.

Hello there,

You don't need a software for this one of the connection only requires an ethernet cable. What you need to do is to hook up the cable and then connect to the router locally. You may have to refer to the manual but usually you access 192.168.1.1 or something alike.

Good luck!

Di-604 Dlink, I moved and when I hook up to my new house location the dlink I don't get connected to the internet.

Make sure that your computer is able to go online
through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the
modem
Then you need to connect the computer to the
router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the
settings of the router according to the ISP.

DI-604 url 192.168.0.1 will not take me to the setup for the rout

Sounds like they both are getting the same IP address. Remove the x-box and see if you can log into the router. You may have to power cycle it. Once on, log into the router and make sure that DHCP is configured. Then attach the x-box and it should get a seperate IP address

Cannot share connection

The IP address that you have is an automatic IP address the Windows generates. It basically means your computer is not getting an IP address from the router (DHCP). You should try powering everything off. Then, in this order, power on your modem, wait 30 seconds, then, power on your router, wait 30 seconds, then power on your computers...This should fix the problem since one computer is working already.

I am trying to connect my D-Link router to my PC. I changed providers from DSL to CAble, and now it doesn't work. When I try to hook up the router to the cable modem, I no longer have internet service....

First, you have to directly attach to the cable modem whichever computer the instal tech used to establish your account. Make sure that connection works. Then re-insert the router and clone the MAC address of the instal computer to the router. Then check your DHCP settings. Make sure it's set to get a new IP from your new provider. You may then have to then release your IP and resubscribe.

Connecting a DI-524 to a DI-604

This shouldn't really be any problem simply use a short "Uplink" ethernet cable to join the routers thru the uplink port, or any port really, and that way ya should be able to wifi and access the net, set ya router that connects to the net for DCHP and disable that setting in the Wifi router and ya should be good to go?

When i hook up the router i have connection at the computer side but

There is the possibility that there are too many users of the same wireless channel in your area or that your wireless phone base station is too close to the router and is interfering. Move the wireless phone if necessary. Then in the router there are configurable channels for the radio communication channels 1, 6 or 11 are preferred. If you see other routers in the area and it shows the channels they are using choose a channel probably 1 or 11 that they are not using. If the first try does not work try the other.
