Sorry but it still won't come on even with the ones that came with the laptop. By the way I am not changing one but two memory chips. The computer came with (2) 512kb I am tring to install (2) 1gb memory. The company that I ordered the memory chips from told me that the max is 2gb for this laptop. What can I do know?

The lights come on when you plug it up to house power. When you hit the power button it lights up at the same time the DVD drive lights up but no bios comes up on the screen. You also can't open the dvd drive when it is lit.

Do you want me to put one in and then turn it on and then turn it off then put the other one in and do the same thing?

  • brianj1983 Mar 05, 2009

I will let you know something in 4 hr.

  • brianj1983 Mar 06, 2009

It did not work. I tried all or the memory modules, The new ones and the old one that came with the computer. When I turned it on without memory modules the power light comes on and stays the dvd drive light is on and stays on but you can't open it still. No bios either. Is there another way we can do this or just leave it alone and try tommarow.

  • brianj1983 Mar 06, 2009

I will try doing what you told me to do yester day again but longer. I will let you know how it goes.

  • brianj1983 Mar 07, 2009

I waited 24 hours and still nothing. Now I can't hear the fan of the computer. But all the lights still work. That hasn't change. I did contact tech support that made the memory modules and they told me that one of the modules had to work. I contacted them after the memory modules did not work. They told me that they might not be seated right. What does that mean? an you tell me or show how to seat them? After that try again I will take the computer a part if it need to be.

Sorry it took so long but I had Sign in problems. Is this right? I know that I put the top one in but I keep hurting myself on the bottom one? Any Suggestion? Can you tell me what that thing that looks like Tin foil above where you put the top memory modules?

Hi there.
Its basically the same as a desktop, only one difference. When you are working with a laptop you have to make sure you remove the battery as well as removing the AC power supply.
Make sure the above is done, go and find a clean, dry, soft paintbrush, remove the memory and clean the contacts and the slots with the paintbrush. Re-seat the original memory in the original slot, flip the laptop right side up and plug in AC power only and try to power up. If it works shut it back down and install the new memory and do the same, if you get post screen your all done, just put it back together making sure the battery is the last bit. Post back with the results.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Ok, remove all power from the laptop, remove the memory and put it to one side for a few hours to settle. After a few hours are up, plug power cord in and hit the on/off button, it won't do anything!!! (except light up and/or beep, turn it back off and put the memory modules in one by one.
Please keep me informed as to your progress

    Good luck

That's right, when you first turn it on again, start it up without the memory installed, and then 1 at a time, this is ruling out the possibilities of faulty memory modules.

    Hi.
The problem sounds more serious so you now have 3 choices.
1, If you have manufacturers warranty take advantage of that and send it in for repair.
2, If you have no warranty take the laptop to a technician.
3, Try sort the problem yourself, this will mean you have to start by taking the DVD and the hard drive out and possibly even stripping the laptop down to pieces.
If you choose 3 and still want some more help don't hesitate to post back.

    Good luck

    Hi again.
Re-seated or seated means that you have to push in and snap the memory into place making sure its a nice tight fit, similar to this >>>

I have a toshiba a135-s4527. is it possible to upgrade the graphics card to 512 mb

No you cannot. Video memory is stuck to the mother board. You can however look into increasing shared memory with your RAM card. However I think the A135 is a piece of **** because the maximum ram you can put into that thing is only 2GB. I tired putting 3GB but the cpu will not boot.

Can i upgarde my toshiba laptop satellite A135-S4527 with graphics card.

Hi,

Sadly laptops' graphics cards can't be upgraded.

The graphics cards in laptops are actually chips that are welded into the main board.

I hate it when people say DOWNGRADE, Vista hasn't proven itself to be an upgrade yet. In order to get the proper drivers, you may have to open the machine and get the make and model of the devices you need drivers for. However, in most cases you don't. Try driverguide.com for the drivers. There you can search drivers by the machine model or hardware model.
