This would be EXTREMELY difficult.Too many components would have to be changed to handle the extra required voltages. Then you would need to incorporate a way to install fans for cooling. The expense and pain in the **** factor would not make this a good move. I do like the idea of the old style EPT360014B DX88HML chassis having an on board amp. Hey are you listening Galaxy?!

always check your swr's.. it should be fine with those settings.
90% amps 1 to 5watts input is fine and then the modulation wattage of yours is good. most can take 50w RMS.
use short coax jumpers.. make sure the radio doesn't have the modulation limiter cut. and it is on frequency. and it should be good. maybe try putting little bit of wd40 on the microphone switch to see if thats the crunching sound..??
also make sure you have enough amperage.. and a good heavy gauge power wire to the amp..
if you have any more details let everyone know.. may help narrow down a problem.

Got pop noise

Popping sounds are from the the ignition - spark plugs, wires and distributor. Most modern cars have "radio resistor plugs" & "spark plug wires" installed from the factory. If unsure on an older car, check under the hood and inspect the wires & plugs.

Make sure your radio AND antenna system are solidy grounded. Poor grounds can allow all kinds of strange sounds and erratic behavior from the radio.

Also, connect the + & - power leads DIRECTLY to the battery. You can pass the + lead through a dedicated relay that opens when the key is removed if you want, but avoid like the plague connecting the + lead to a terminal in the fuse box and the - lead to an arbitrary grounded point on the body. Direct connections to the battery helps to prevent a way for noise to enter the radio on the power leads.

You may also be hearing the electric fuel pump located in the fuel tank on many newer cars. Solving that sound is very difficult.

Good luck!

Used galaxy 88hl

If you have a receipt for it and you had it less than 2 years it can go to Galaxy in Calif. if is defective. Just go the the Galaxy tech support webpage and follow the directions for an RA #. They do good work. If you want to send it to a top notch repair shop try Dons CB in PA. They are a real Galaxy warranty service center. The # is 814-898-1046

anything over 10 amps should be sufficient i would assume. if it calls for a 10 amp fuse anything less than that would be under powering the unit
