Hello,
It sounds as if the transmission's clutch plates are excessively worn. You have 2 options;
1. Replace all of the transmission fluid & the filter too. That may fix the problem although not guaranteed to work completely.
2. Do what I ultimately had to do (after trying the 1st thing) and bring it to a Transmission repair shop and have it rebuilt for $1,400 (as good as new). I thought the van was worth it and I could get a lot more miles from it of course you have to determine this for your self and your van's condition.
Good Luck!

Check the brake pedal safety interlock. It's electrical & mechanical & often you can have a misadjusted cable or bad solenoid that dis engages the lock. There's a bypass on the gear shift,small slot that the ignition key fits into in order to move the gear selector. Do not turn the key,just insert it & move the selector to neutral,start the car & take it to a repair facility of your choice.

Check your transmission fluid. If it's low, add fluid, if its brown or smells burnt, replace it along with the filter.
