Question about GE 25GT240 25" TV

2 Answers

I can't get Direct TV to work with this TV! I don't believe this is possible - but the Direct TV guy could not get it to work with my TV. Is my TV simply broken - or do I need to buy something such as a converter box?

    Here is all I know:

The Direct TV box is a Direct TV and DVR in one

I also have a DVD player which I believe is connected to the TV (but not the D-TV box)

The D-TV box is connected to my TV with the red/yellow/white cable only

The TV is on channel 3

I have tried hitting the 'input' button on the remote several times with no luck

u do not need converter with d-tv-- could be many reasons its not workin--try another receiver how is it connected to receiver? cable? av cables? is your tv on channel 3?, change input setting on tv maybe, also switch on back of receiver for channel 3or 4as a former d-tv installer i never had a tv that was workin that would not work with d-tv it all depends on the way the signal is put into tv-- what type of connections are on tv?

This is the best solution for your problem as a 40 year experience with wires etc. Go to the source of your cable signal connector . Open it and clean the terminals with emery paper , sand the end of the cable shiny clean from corrosion , get a new barrel connectors with gold terminals if possible lengthen the ends of the cable , insert and tighten good, use thick rg-16 or rg 40 cable with good insulation ends crimped professionally with a crimpier or buy ready made , not from dollar store. Get a gold plated professional splitter if you need one or two , it will cost about 15 or more each . Make the cable runs as short as possible, using the thick good cables. If needed get a signal magnifier. From radio shack or the source etc. Connect them good and tight . Ground the splitters . Problem solved , you will get crystal clear channel 2 to 7 including 3 and 4 . Isolate the TV cable from other cables and power wires. Vitally

You would go in on Ch3 or Ch4 with antenna selected, not cable (CATV)

Need to program a univ. remote for LG model # 32LC20U-UE? I don't understand what more info you guys could possibly need? Are you guys a real company?

Sometimes its easier, although more expensive getting the correct remote direct from the Manufacturer however, most universals will work OK. If you have the manual or product sheet with the new remote, it should show you which code and how to program it . If that doesn't work, there should be an auto scan function which will cause the universal remote to run through every code until it "locks" onto your TV frequency. Have a good read of the instructions, it should show you how to do it. Good luck

SNOW AND DON'T KNOW IF ITS ON RIGHT CHANNEL FOR DIRECT TV

If possible connect via one of the rear sets of audio and video inputs from the direct box--this is more common than using tuner in set.

Is there a direct cable tv connection on a mx-50x5 i want to just connect my cable from the wall right to the tv?

I don't believe this tv has a tuner, so no I don't think you will be able to hook up directly to your cable from the wall. Most newer units do have a built-in tuner, tho some do not. Make sure to check the specs first.

No sound coming from my Vizio Model #E320VL HDTV. Tried everything I can think of. I have Direct TV and it just stopped working one day. Any advice?

We just had the same problem with our tv, we switched tv's and it still didn't work. We reset our att uverse box, and the sound works. I don't know how direct TV works, but the problem may lie there instead of your TV

Sony wega rear proj-i believe the bulbs burned out ,tv works in BW only

Because your TV is still projecting a B&W image doesn't mean the lamp is bad. This TV is having something else going on other than a lamp. Possibly a processing board issue if it's only projecting B&W.
This will need to go into a trusted service shop. I would call and see if you can get an estimate of repair first.

I just moved and now have Direct TV and have a big

Not all Vizio TVs use the same codes with their Vizio remotes also. That's why this is a problem.
Here's the possible codes from my Directv book.
11756 and 10178
If that doesn't work, you may still find a setup code that works for your device by stepping through the library codes in your remote. The following instructions will help you do this.

StepNSet
  • Set the "Mode Switch" to the desired mode such as TV for a Television.
  • Press and hold the "Mute" button and the "Select" button until the visible LED blinks twice.
  • Enter the code "991" followed by the "device number"
    1. for Televisions
    2. for "AUX 1" devices - VCRs or DVDs
    3. for "AUX 2" devices - Audio
  • You can step through the setup codes for this mode by pressing the "Channel Up" key to go forward through the codes or pressing the "Channel Down" key to go back to the previous codes.
  • You can try out each code by pressing one or more function keys such as power, volume or digit keys.
  • When you've found the setup code that works for your device, press the "Select" key.
