I have a PC CIF Camera@ or the User Guide I have a Model Techweb 1. I have used the Disc several times to load but do not get the 'Setup Type' page ie Complete or Custom. When i go to C:\Prgramme Files\PC Camera@\AMCap I have a blank, which might be correct. On another track going to Add or Remove programs I do have PC CIF Camera@ show with 0.16MB. When I go to Device Manager Imaging devices I only have P Photosmart. but I do have yellow question mark on 'Other devices'- USB camera. When I click on USB Camera I get 'Cannot install this hardware' Please HELP!!!

You are just going to make it worse trying to install it over the exhisting application, from your question it's hard to tell what you actually have and if it worked before of not? if you are dealing with multiple issues, just remove the ones in question, and re install them. If they don't come out in add/remove programs then you need to uninstall thrugh device manager, the device itself, and upon reboot you can see what physical device is re installed. It sounds like you have two different problems, one software and a possible hardware problem also.

If the setup is not finishing you might have a corrupt disc, try download drivers from the web and install after removing existing.

Uninstall it in the device manager the questionmark, reboot, it shouls reinstall the device, keep the disk available in case it asks for the drivers.

Password reset on dell 518

Reset Your Windows Password Using the Command Prompt

1. Boot your computer using your Windows installation disc.
2. Wait for the setup files to load, and select your language. Click Next.
3. Click the Repair your computer link on the Install Windows screen.
4. Select the operating system to repair, and note the drive letter on which the OS is installed (it is probably C: or D:). Click Next.
5. Click Command Prompt at the bottom of the list of recovery tools.
Now you need to overwrite the Sticky Keys executable with the Command Prompt executable. Sticky Keys is an accessibility feature that allows a user to tap the Shift, Ctrl, Alt, or Windows key once to achieve the same effect as holding the key down. Ordinarily, tapping Shift five times activates Sticky Keys--but with this trick, you are going to make tapping Shift five times activate the Windows Command Prompt instead.
The instructions below use drive letter C: as an example. If your operating system is installed on another drive, replace C: with the appropriate drive letter.
1. In the Command Prompt window, type copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe c:\ and press Enter.
2. Type copy /y c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe and press Enter.
3. Exit the Command Prompt and reboot the computer. At the login screen, tap Shift five times. The Command Prompt will pop up.
4. Type net user username password, replacing username with your username and password with a new password.
5. Exit the Command Prompt, and log in using your new password.
To prevent another user from exploiting the same trick to reset your password, you can restore Sticky Keys as follows:
1. Step through the instructions above to boot the PC using your Windows installation disc, open the recovery tools, and launch the Command Prompt.
2. Type copy /y c:\sethc.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe and press Enter.
3. Exit the Command Prompt and reboot the computer. Pressing Shift five times will now activate Sticky Keys instead of the Command Prompt. Store your Windows installation disc in a secure location.

Just turned on computer, not doing anything after load user page.cannot get in to try putting back to earlier setting.Do not have any disc as everything is pre-loaded

Does your keyboard lock up and the mouse pointer freeze when you try to type your password?

If so, restart the computer and try just leaving it at the user login page for an hour or so without touching ANY buttons, or the mouse keys and not even trying to type your name or password.

After an hour or two try to login as usual.

Read about a similar problem long time ago and apparently that solved it, don't know why. Don't really think this will help much, it's just a shot in the dark, but it won't hurt to try it if nothing else works.

Good luck and post back if it helps or just repost your question and hopefully someone else will come up with a better answer.

Does a new computer i bought yesterday come with a user manuel ? I have a ACER EA3910 Harry

Hi, The new computers that you purchase would not come with a hardcopy of the user manual however you would find a quick start guide that would help you setup the computer.Once you have setup the computer and logged onto Windows you could find softcopy of the User manual. Please follow the below steps to locate the user manual:- Click on Start-->All Programs-->Acer Documentation-->Acer User Manual You could also download a softcopy of the User manual from the Acer website by visiting the below mentioned website:- http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers From here you could select the type of computer and model number of the computer and then download a softcopy of the user manual. Thank you for your time and best wishes for your effort.

I lost the instructions on how to install a Linksys wireless router. I would like to down load these instructions.

cable setup

This guide is recommended for Cable Internet Service in the USA like Charter, Cox, Comcast, Cable Vision, etc.
  1. First you need to connect the device together. You need to connect your cable modem to the internet port on the back of the router, and the computer should go to one of the 4-port on the router labeled Ethernet (1, 2, 3, 4).
  2. Then turn on the modem first, wait for the lights to stabilize before powering on the Linksys router. Lights that you should have on the router are Power (solid green), Wireless/WLAN (Green sometimes flashing), One of the no. lights where the computer is plugged in (flashing), And the internet light (flashing).
After doing this step there are times that this will already get you online. If the internet will not work, you continue following the steps 3.

3. If the internet is still not working; we will need to adjust a setting on the router setup page. To access the setup page of the router you need to open your internet explorer or Firefox on the computer that is hardwired directly to the router. In the address bar of your browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) type http://192.168.1.1/ and hit enter or click Go. It will ask you for a username and password. Just type "admin" for the password field and there is no username. If you have ran the setup CD prior to this, then use the password that you have set when were running the setup CD.
4. Once you are in the setup page of your router make sure that the Internet Connection Type is set to Automatic Configuration DHCP, then click the save the settings button at the bottom of the page. After saving the settings, click the sub tab at the very top of the page that says MAC Address Clone. Set it to enable and click the button that will say Clone or Clone your PC's MAC and save the settings again.

5. After doing step 4, do a power cycle. Power cycle is done by turning of the router, modem and computer. Leave them off for a minute, tuned them back on in this order. Modem first wait for the lights to stabilize, then the router wait until the power light become solid. Then turn on the computer. This will get you online through the router.

5. On the left of the "Status" page you will see "PPPoE Enabled", and to the right you will see the Status of the connection. It can be one of the following:
- Disconnected
- Connecting
- Connected
6. If the status is "Connected" you should be able to browse the web, if not reboot your computer
7. If you get an error message please repeat the "Configuring the router" and "Power Cycling" steps with a different username.
- If all four connections fail then please see our knowledge base articles on the error you're getting.
Once the router is configured correctly you should change the default password and record it for reference.
