Thats what happened to my friends. Well people say to have the console in a specific position. But because the disk is damaged there and two possible reasons. 1. You have your consel is the wrong position 2. You must have moved it. or 3. Get a new one. Now if you have resolved the problem and it happens again, rent the same game/movie, look at the rent # on it, write it on the disk that is scratched, now put the disk you wrote on in the case and send it back with all the scatches on it. They can't do anything about it.
Yes! you can contact Mircrosoft, the number can be found on the box that your 360 came in... call them and let them know that your Xbox no longer reads disks and they will send you a box in which you can send them your Xbox and they will repair it and send it back to you Free of Charge! It takes a few weeks to a month to get your 360 back, but it's worth the wait when it's working perfect again!
put in your ps3 hardware disk that came with your system in the box and switch back the parameters that way your system came with a setup disk that auto matically runs so you can reset your system parameters

so just send it in to have it fixed and hope they do it right the second time
Sony used a bad batch of lasers on earlier models of ps3. Mostly 40 and 60 gig but like any other electrical component it has the chance of taking a s**t. Sony will replace or repair your system if the warranty sticker is still on the console, if now open the BD and replace the laser with a new laser (not refurbished). I have taken hundreds of these apart and its always the same. The laser burns out mostly due to **** on the disk itself so be sure to have nothing on the disk.
