Hod do I align the sensor lights?

Both my sensor lights are steady green. Door will not open or close with either the wall opener or the remote. The motor runs, but nothing happens. I can manually open and close the door. How do I align the lights so it will work?

Your problem is not with the safety eyes. You have a stripped gear inside the opener. Take off the cover and you will have white shavings in the bottom of the cover. You can repair this with a liftmaster gear and sprocket kit.

How do you align the safety sensors for a lifmaster garage door

The indicator lights in both sending and receiving eyes with glow steady if wiring and alignment are correct.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Liftmaster-safety-reversing-system.pdf
Connect the wires together on safety sensor receiver (with green indicator light), so it by-passes safety system.
The safety system consists of sender with amber light, and receiver with green indicator. Receiver must receive light in order to keep switch circuit closed. If receiver receives no light from sender, then switch opens, and garage door will not function.
Connect both wires on receiver will simulate the closed switch, as if receiver is receiving beam of light.
You can order replacement sensors from amazon

These things are pretty primitive and the brackets are made weak so you don't rip your ankle open on them. It is simply trial and error; they both (transmitter and receiver) have lenses and the capture angle isn't that tight so just try aligning the two assemblies by eye and keep your fingers clear, watch for the LEDs to change to steady. You might want to wipe the lenses clean of dust and webs if present since these will reduce the sensitivity of the two.

We can't close our garage door

Make sure neither light on the sensors is flickering. Tweak them a bit to make sure they are aligned properly.

It sounds like there might be a loose wire connection on the inside of the sensor. You could also be moving the position of the sensor slightly into alignment when you squeeze the sensor. You will need to disconnect the wires for the sensor on the garage door opener or disconnect the power. Then use a flatblade screw driver and carefully seperate the sensor case. Check for any loose connections on the wiring(you might need to re-solder the wire to the sensor eye). It sounds like a loose wire connection to me.

I have the 1/2 horsepower opener with the green (Sears)

Sometimes the sensors will be aligned closely enough that the logic board will turn on the receiving units light but it will act like yours. If you look real close at the light you will see that it is flickering ever so lightly. Tweak the sensor so the light is on steady.

What it is is the electric beams at the door are getting blinded buy the sun or out of line. They are the two black boxes on both sides of the door about a foot from the ground. Put a piece of card board in front of them not blocking the beam dut to block the sun. All that they are is safety beams for kids so they do not get hurt. If you have to move them to the top where the sun will not hit them. Sorry to say though you can not remove them all the way. Also make sure the lite on them is not blinking if so they are out of line.

your infrared sensor is either misaligned, faulty, or you have a broken wire from your sensor to your door opener. (Flashing light indicates infrared light path is broken). both sensors should indicate green led. door wil not come down is safty feature to prevent door from closing when light path is broken.

Chamberlain Liftmaster Pro. Garage door Problems closing

The sensor eye - or more likely, the other end, the sensor light - probably got knocked out of alignment. The eye should have an LED on it - possibly one that glows green when it's ready to close or red when it's obstructed or out of alignment. Try adjusting the light until the LED on the receiver glows green.
