Anyone perhaps know why my LG microwave LMV1683ST will not function with a new door assembly?

I hate to be the bearer or conduit of bad news, but IF the old (broken) door works, but the new door does not, the new door may not be the exact replacement part! Otherwise, the operation would be identical. Clearly, the problem is not with the microwave circuits because they work fine with the original door! Is there a flexible circuit strip that plugs to or from the door, to the control board in the main unit? If so, does it look any different than the original counterpart to it?

If your microwave door is cracked or the latch is broken, you may be able to replace it instead of purchasing a new microwave. Check the manufacturer's website to find out how to order a replacement door that is compatible with your specific make and model or visit any technician store that deal with microwave and oven around your local area to get one.

Your owner's manual may also list a part number, which you can use as a reference when looking for a new microwave door.

Unplug the microwave and set it on a table or workbench. If you have a built-in microwave, you may have to remove some mounting screws or retention clips to get the microwave out of the support bracket.

Open the door and take out the glass tray.Pry off a corner of the plastic panel on the inside of the door with a screwdriver or butter knife. Once it is loose, work the screwdriver or knife all the way around the glass and remove the panel.

Ask someone to hold the microwave door as you disconnect it from the hinges.

Depending on the design of your microwave door, you may have to remove a set of screws or slide a pin out of the hinge to release the door.

Remove and discard the old door. Have your assistant hold the replacement door up to the hinges.

Attach the door to the hinges by reversing the previous step. Snap the plastic inner panel into place around the glass.

Move the microwave back to its original location. Insert and tighten the necessary mounting screws if you are working on a built-in microwave.

Set the glass tray back inside the microwave and close the door.

I need to replace the door on the microwave. I have a new GE Spacemaker Excel Microwave with a broken handle and door. I want to put my "old" microwave door on it.

Hi First I do not recommend replacing the new door unless you know it fits exactly like the old one and the wattage rating is the same and the seals and door locks are the same. However are you just wanting to change the face plate so it will match your kitchen then that may be do able. To find out you need to look at the wattage output of both units to see if they are rated the same, however you can go to this web site. Type in both model numbers and look at the two different doors if they have the same parts number you can change it, best bet is to call them and ask if they are interchangeable. If you then decide to tackle the repair get back to us so we can tell you what to do and not to do in order to replace it. Hope this helps.

Many times restaurant supply houses can have what you are looking for in terms of hinges. However, when the hinges, seals, megatron tubes go....generally its time to go shopping for a new unit!

Need to replace broken door handle. Cannot get to screws inside door to release broken handle and replace with new handle.

Look for a removable insert around the inside window. If not there may be screws along the outside edges to separate the door sections. Eric

Front Plastic door is cracked and needs replacement.

Do not use a microwave with a cracked door as it could be emitting dangerous microwaves.

Sadly the cost of replacing the door would be more that the cost of a new microwave. Look for a good sale and treat yourself.

The door can be replaced, just call the service center. Not too sure about the spot on the back panel though. However, it may work out cheaper to just buy a new microwave altogether...
